What are your ideas on a QB for next year? Are we picking up a new Vet or sticking with Gus to mentor a young kid from the draft?

Unless some guy that is unpassable comes along I say we just stick with Gus and a get younger guy, doesnt have to be a rookie, just someone young with potential who could sit a year and then contribute

<<P.S

Reggie Bush will not be a great pro I see him being decent but not amazing, he wont be worth a number one pick by any stretch Lindell White will by far have a better career Reggie Bush isnt going to run in circles around the field and make 11 NFL defenders miss >>

Everyone has an opinion but I think your are crazy here. I agree that Bush will not outrun everyone like he did in college but the guy has moves, is tough, good hands, and can fly. He is a franchise back period. Every pro scout says the same thing - his talent comes around once every 10 plus years. How can you say he will be just decent? White is big and tough BUT he has no work ethic. It's well written that he doesn't work out hard. Bush became a workout nut thanks to LT. White lost playing time early because he was lazy. Also, where was his power and heart on 4th down in teh Rose Bowl. That was poor effort! No comparison - you are way off! IMO Leinhart would be my #1 pick and then Bush because I think a QB is worth so much more and he is solid. RB's have too short of a career to take so high. White is questionnable 1st rd material.

Nick will stay with gus and bring in his own qb to groom. There are no long term answers at the qb position in free agency imo.brees would be ok but still unproven.if i were a betting man nick will find our qb of the future in the draft or we have him now in cleo.

:shakeno: unproven... hes been a top 10 QB the past 2 years, hes still questionable though because of his sholder injury

We will stick w/ Gus for this year and we will draft a rookie.

My question is: If Saban had in mind developing a young QB 'for the future' why didn't he draft one last year where they were in abundance instead of waiting for this year and loosing a year of development? The answer could be Lemon but not likely.

Now that Linehan is set to go to St. Louis, the team needs to learn a whole new system.

Does that change if Gus starts or not?

He was the most familiar with the system. Now, with a new coordinator (Martz maybe?) is he, Cleo and Sage on the same page?

Plus, Sage already had his shot vs Fiedler and Feeley and Frerotte...(Three F's...coincidence?) Will we let him go and draft a young QB? Jay Cutler perhaps?

Then, we'd have Frerotte, Lemon and Cutler all competing (equally) for the starting position in a new system. No favoritism at all.

But speaking of favoritism, maybe our new O-coordinator will bring in a guy he likes? Maybe we'll pick up Kerry Collins, get rid of frerotte, draft a young guy, and repeat last year all over again?

So many possabilities with the new coordinator added to the mix.

It's hard to say right now. Some people have McNair coming in. I think that is unlikely because if Vince Young is there when Tennesse picks they take him and restructor McNairs deal to help get Young ready. If this happens the Billy Volak could become available and I think he could come in and start for the Dolphins. Nonetheless it's nice to be looking forward to next year with some excitement.

Gus has to go... or at least not start.

We need to draft for the future and use trade or FA to improve the present.

Saban has already said that upgrading the quarterback position is a top priority.
