you know what, Miami keeps talking about BUILDING THROUGH THE DRAFT but you know what? we always build via FA when it comes to the QB position. Can someone explain to me why our organization is exactly like Saban when it ocmes to this one position in the entire nfl?

I'm tired of hearing that crap! always talk about it, but never do teh right things.

Well because this team has not built through the draft in many years. Under Saban we moved closer to that direction in that we actually got some good draft picks who should be with the organization for a while. But he too failed to bring in a QB. I think with Mueller running things and Cam the head coach that will change. You can bet they will be looking at QB in this draft. That being said, you aren't always in a position to get one, lets hope we are this year.

From what I can recall Miami simply has not been in a position to draft a "franchise" QB when we have been on the clock. Outside of passing on Drew Brees in the 2001 draft "who" has Miami passed on?

Well all this talk about building through the draft is coming from Mueller, so anything that Miami has done in the past is inrellivant because he was not in charge. So far it looks as we are going to build from the draft as we have got more picks then we had in a long time. Maybe we will draft a QB high this year maybe we won't, but it is Mueller's first year and he can not build up every position in won year. And they have to be there for u to draft u don't just take any QB just to take a QB.

This is exactly what i was gonna say. It's not like we were ever in the position to draft Philip Rivers, or Eli Manning (although hes garbage) or Ben Roesthlisberger or Carson Palmer. I could understand if we were one of the Franchises that passed on one of these guys but realistically the only guy that turned out to be special that we passed on was Drew Brees, but even then, the entire league passed on him, most of them twice.

I mean i guess you could say we passed on guys like Charlie Frye, Brodie Croyle, or Dan Orlovsky, but i don't look at any of those guys and really regret not taking them.

Which i will probably not be upset if we were to pass on Drew Stanton this year either, because i think he's just another back-up Pro.

please get a qb in the draft its probably the only thing we still havent tried so we dont know if itll work or not get a qb via draft please:dedolfan::disapprove:

Dont worry, we are biulding through the draft. We have never had a GM like Mueller and a coach like Cam who believed in this. This is why we have the most picks this year since 1998. Look at the teams Randy built in the past with Seattle and N.O. Granted N.O. sucked for a long time but that was more coaching than player talent because they did have good talent there. (Brooks was very good for a few years). But he built those teams through the draft. He is a very creative GM and finds talent all over the draft

We didnt have coaches or GM's that knew how to build a team this way since JJ. Wanny only signed older veterans and his drafts sucked. Saban, well lets just say Saban had no clue what he was doing. he spent more time walking his wife than he did evaluating talent.

We just need a healthy, good veteran to teach the rookie we will draft this year and the way the reports are running, Daunte isnt it. We have 9 draft picks, 9...Just the sound of that is music to my ears.

We passed on Brodie Croyle in the 3rd round last year.
We passed on Aaron Rodgers in the 1st round of 2005.
We passed on J.P Losman in the 1st round of 2004.
We passed on Chriss Simms in the 3rd round of 2003.
We passed on Drew Brees in the 1st round of 2001.

We could have had a chance at other QBs if we haden't traded away our draft picks in 2002 and 2003.
In 2002 we didn't have a 1st or 2nd round draft pick or we could have drafted Patrick Ramsey.
In 2003 if we hadn't traded away our 1st round pick we could have drafted Rex Grossman or Kyle Boller.

Now I realize that most of those guys are not huge losses but just about all of them are better than what we have had over the past 7 years.
When you look at the guys we drafted in stead it even futher proves the point that we have neglected the QB position in the draft.

Yes, it sucks to see all these QB's perform better than ours have and we had chances to get them, but, that was with morons like Spielman, Wanny, and Saban at the helm...None of them could evaluate talent if it jumped on their nose and danced. We have two new generals in town who seem to work very well with each other. Cam has been part of extremely successful offensive teams and Randy has been building talented teams his entire GM career. I see a completely different way the fins will approach the draft. It seems Randy always finds great talent in all rounds of the draft

Well except the part about Saban, for all of his faults I think Saban was a pretty good judge of talent. He did bring us Ronnie Brown, Travis Daniels, Channing Crowder, Matt Roth, Derek Hagan, Joe Toledo, Fred Evans, Anthony Alabi and Jason Allen. All of these are guys that are still on the team and will probably be contributing to the team this year. As many as 6 or 7 could be starting.

You have a point. These players have contributed. I'm not sure about Toledo, Evans, and Alabi because they havent really contributed. Alabi played in 6, Evans played in 1, and toledo in none. I am optimistic that alabi, and Evans will one day be contributors but I dont see toledo getting any playing time. We still have to wait to see how well Hagan and Allen will do being full time starters next season before we can say they are talented. Truthfully, although I am pushing for him to succeed, I didnt even know who J. Allen was when we drafted him. Hagan has the greatest potential i believe. He is very fast and can ru good routes but he needs to hold onto the ball which I believe can be corrected.

We'll see how they all pan out but I think Saban chose these guys moreso because they were SEC guys than their talent levels

well marino retired in 1999 if we drafted drew brees in 2001 we would not have this discussion

Don't forget also the Wright Bothers. we can all fault him on a number of things, but he did do a good job in the draft.

Like many qbs, it took Brees a couple of years to come into his own.
