When looking at the Dolphins the one spot that stares you right in the face is the QB position. With a new coach coming in now seems like an opportune time to bring a young QB in to learn as the team learns. Since Wayne is free with the money and wants to win how about hiring a GM,coach,or assistant who is a mastermind at scouting QB talent because it seems our QB choices since Dan have been shakey. This QB controversy goes on every year. We need a guy that we know is our starter and dont have to question.Whos the guy who found Dan Marino deep in the draft or Tom Brady , Brett Favre, or on a lesser level Marc Bulger, or Tony Romo? Im pretty sure none of these guys came from first round draft picks? There has to be a highly touted QB scout out there whether he is in the college ranks or pros? If we dont want this guy to be our GM or coach make up a position for him like GM advisor or something of that nature.

If I remember correctly, Mueller has a pretty good rep as far as finding "diamond in the rough" type QBs. I'm pretty sure in the time he was GM in New Orleans, he brought in Aaron Brooks (who was good for awhile), Bulger, Delhomme, Bouman, and im sure there are others. If we give him the authority to make the calls, he may be the QB guru we're looking for.

Chris Leak will fit the description.
DRAFT CHRIS LEAK !!

I have to tell ya...I am a huge gator and Leak fan and I don't think drafting Chris Leak is a good idea. Leak did a fantastic job at the college level but I really dont think he is an NFL starter. He, at best, may be a career backup. I am not smashing Leak by any means because I like the kid, but I dont think he has what it would take to be an NFL starter.....but I have been wrong before.

Bill Walsh is considered to best at QB talent evaluation.
I think he has studied film on just about every great
QB of the past 30 years.
He's not young though.

I want a franchise qb once and for all. no more scrub/project qb. chris leak = trash

WOW!!!!......trash huh??? That is a stretch. Buckeye fan maybe???....lol...j/k. He isnt trash. He just isnt NFL starting material. If he was trash, he wouldnt have the stats he does...

Trash....I dont think so....

We already KNOW who's our starter: Culpepper!

The only QB we need to replace is Harrington. We can replace Harrington with Cleo Lemon as our #2...and replace the #3 with a rookie in the 2nd or 3rd round...

Marino was drafted # 27 in the first. Favre was almost a first- drafted in the second (33rd overall).
Of course we all know about Tom Brady being drafted in the sixth but he is definitely the exception to the rule. Most successfull Qbs are drafted pretty high.

It was Don Shula that found Dan Marino, and it was late in the first round. But I hear ya...

Culpepper hasn't been our starter since like week 5 or 6. He is currently on Injured reserve and is rehabbing. We don't know that he'll be our starter next year. We don't know that he won't be, but what if he gets injured again? Who do we have behind him? Don't tell me Cleo lemon because we don't know what we have in him. What happens in any other position when someone gets injured? more people step up on the depth chart. Well at the QB position, not only do we NOT have a starter that we're probably not going to end up cutting in the offseason (i.e. joey Harrington) we don't have any depth. QB is the most critical hole on this team right now which needs to be addressed in both the draft AND free agency this year and anyone who doesn't realize that is smoking crack...

Then be prepared to lose until we address the QB situation

Good post, I'm feeling like Mueller can fit the bill pretty well if we just give him the authority to call the shots on player personnel, like a GM should have.

I don't get all this talk how the Dolphins are a bad team with DC at QB. The past season had him playing on one leg behind an OL that took a good part of the season to gell - plus he had an idiot for an OC!

Next season DC will be healthy and have a reasonable OC calling plays, so the Dolphins offense will be much, much better right there. That's why we should be looking at OL or WR with the #9 pick.
