Qb wonderlic scores

Locker at 20 is surprising -and disappointing. That's slightly above the range of our retard retreads including Lemon, Feeley, Lucas and Dullpecker. However, guys like Dan and Bradshaw also scored low, although it was another era probably without tutoring and did just fine. The difference between them and the retreads is that they prospered with the teams that drafted them so I guess that could be considered "making the cut" vs those Wonderlic-challenged QBs who've confirmed their scores with their drafting teams. Conversely a very high score doesn't guarantee anything other than potentially being able to process info at nanospeed while under center as compared to Vince "Mr 6" Young.

No way Gabbert doesn't go within the first 10 picks now...

I'm starting to like McElroy more and more. Not sure what the knock on him is, but the few times I've seen him play, he has been excellent. I also really like Christian Ponder.

Locker just seems like a locker full of sweaty jockstraps so frequently. I really hope we do not end up with him.

Usually you want a QB around 30, but it does not hurt to to be higher so long as one is humble about their intelligence (Nobody likes a smarmy, know-it-all leader, but nobody likes a mediocre leader either. These facts tend to lead to lower performance levels in those cases compared to one being under the leadership of somebody who is smart, but neither arrogant about it nor TOO smart. This explains why many leaders are in the 130-140 IQ range, a touch below genius level).

BTW, some guys train harder than others for this test, so that has to be taken into account. For example, I remember hearing rumors that Marino scored below 20, so it just goes to show you what can happen when you do not take the test seriously.

I believe Marino scored a 14 or a 16

Personally I don't think any of these Wonderlic grades move the needle on any of these prospects. But it's nice to see confirmation that the smart guys that play smart are smart, and that none of them play so dumb that you'd actually question their overall intelligence level.

The wonderlic is a nice tool for throwing up some red flags, especially if you already had questions about a guy's intelligence. However, none of these scoress are worthy of red flag status. In my years following the Draft I've never seen anything that suggests to me that incremental increases in Wonderlic score increase a guy's chance of making it in the NFL. It's a lot like the arm strength issue. If you have enough, you have enough. Incremental increases aren't going to make you more productive.

Didn't the NFL network say Dalton scored in the high 40's??? It was right before Mariucci had him diagram on the chalkboard. Couple this with the Ingram 10 yard split and you really have to start wondering about their credibility.

Should we worry about Cam Newton's work ethic now?

No we should let the Panthers do that. Newton is a Dbag just listen to his interviews about wanting to build his own brand blah blah blah. He is more interested in making money and being famous than playing football, which is never a goot quality in a QB.

I have been a Mallet guy up to this point but i am def starting to come around on Ponder. Trading back with The Saints so they can take Ingram and we take their 2nd is actually looking good to me and i hate "value". Take Ponder with their first rounder and the best RB available with their second rounder.(or the opposite depending on how fast qb's are going and i think there def WILL be a run on qbs in the first round)

But in my heart i know we are going to be looking at pick #15 with Mallet and Ingram available, trade down and take an Olineman, then Kaepernick or some s**t in the second round, making our draft a complete bust and leaving with another solid lineman and another sub par qb prospect.

-Kaepernick is a taller version of Pat White. He will probably be out of the league in a few years.
-Ponder is to good a passer for Ireland.
-Gabbert won't fall to us and we don't have the ammo to trade up.
-I think Ireland would pick Newton at 15 if a falls. He can run and can't read defenses, a combination Ireland would love..
-Mallett is to good a passer and to poor a runner for Ireland to pick him. He can also read defenses well, which means Ireland definitely won't pick this guy.. Also, he throws to many touchdowns for Sparano to stomach.

The rest of the QB's in this draft are nothing special and wouldn't require a high draft pick, which means the rest will be very tempting for Ireland.
