Since the draft is approaching, we are hearing alot about not drafting a QB to be successful since Marino. Could we post on here all the QB's we've had a chance to draft (not through trading up or down) that we passed on to draft someone else that went on to be successful franchise QB's. I'll mention the first one-Matt Ryan, but I guess we still are waiting on that big breakout season for him. Who else?

Aaron Rodgers in 2005 when we took Ronnie Brown

Everyone passed on Tom Brady (pick 199 in 2000).

Drew Brees in 2001

Here is the list of QBs drafted that Miami could have taken when they were on the clock since they drafted Chad Henne:

Andy Dalton, Colin Kaepernick, Ryan Mallett, Ricky Stanzi, T.J Yates, Nathan Enderle, Tyrod Taylor, Greg McElroy, Tim Tebow, Jimmy Clausen, Colt McCoy, Mike Kafka, John Skelton, Jonathan Crompton, Rusty Smith, Dan LeFevour, Joe Webb, Tony Pike, Levi Brown, Sean Canfield, Zac Robinson, Pat White, Stephen McGee, Rhett Bomar, Nate Davis, Tom Brandstater, Mike Teel, Keith Null, Curtis Painter, Kevin O'Connell, John David Booty, Dennis Dixon, Josh Johnson, Erik Ainge, Colt Brennan, Andre Woodson, Matt Flynn, Alex Brink.

Throw in any undrafted QBs. Outside of Flynn and Dalton not much to look at.

The reality is Miami has not "missed out" on many QBs, most legitimate impact QBs were off the clock when Miami drafted. Outside of Aaron Rodgers, whom might have been a bust if he was forced to play right away, there just haven't been much quality available. Of course, some will say Matt Ryan but his weak and inaccurate arm would probably of done him in here without the offensive talent he has surrounding him in Atlanta.

Like you said, everyone passed on Brady, and I would not blame the Phins for passing on Rodgers, as many other teams did. Brees is the only one I feel really bad about.

Joe Flacco. Couple AFC championship games, hair breath's away from the superbowl last season(i wouldnt call the ball getting stripped out of receivers hands his fault).

Others already mentioned Dalton.

Why? Do you guys want me to jump off a ledge?!? Can we not just bury the past and move on???

Elite QB's are very tough to get if you don't have one of the very top picks in the draft (and even then). The following 14 QB's, in no particular order, are my subjective list of "elite" QB's that a team can (and has been) built around. They also account for 10 of the last 11 Super Bowl victories. Note that 9 out of 14 were drafted with a higher pick than the Fins have this year, including 7 drafted with the #1 overall pick. Bottom line - Henne's injury really cost us (the chance to win by losing).

Idk, maybe these guys have invented a time machine that will allow us to go to the past and draft one of those guys or something. But wait a minute, if they have one why haven't they used it? Logically speaking, this thread wounldn't even exist, right?

In all seriousness, unless you are a decision maker who makes the picks for the team, what use is a thread like this? Is it to learn from past mistakes in hopes that we won't repeat the same mistake twice (or however many times we passed on a QB)? Or is it in order to try and tarnish the actually decision makers down at 347 Don Shula Drive? Either way, it's redundant and counterproductive. Meaning no good can come from this. It's almost as if fans long for, or need an escape so they fantasize about what could've, would've, and should've.

Why can't we push forward and roll with the punches? And just take our licks and keep it moving? Why live in the past and bring up every misfortune that has come our way? What does that fix or solve? Wait let me answer......ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! So let's live for today, and not yesterday.

Don't really think Ryan, Vick, Smith, Romo, Newton or Stafford can really be thought of as elite yet, but time will tell.

One post made me think about Erik Ainge and where and what he is.

Wow, talk about not knowing someone before you draft them (and please, even I'm asking not to make this a thing about the Jets)

http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/columns/story?columnist=cimini_rich&id=6267822

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- New York Jets backup quarterback Erik Ainge started using drugs when he was 12. It began with a bong hit, and it escalated from marijuana to prescription meds, alcohol, cocaine and heroin. By his senior year at Tennessee, he was addicted to painkillers, downing them by the handful.

This is the story of a professional athlete who lost control. Ainge fell into a self-destructive lifestyle that included multiple overdoses, drunk driving, extended stays in rehab and relapses, leaving his football career in shambles.

It wasn't supposed to be this way. Ainge, the nephew of former basketball star and current Celtics GM Danny Ainge, started for Tennessee and became a fifth-round pick of the Jets in 2008. He wanted to do right by the family name, synonymous with success and clean living, but his behavior can be best described by the large tattoo on his back:

"Crazy White Boy."

Sadly, he has no recollection of getting that tattoo.

P.S I'd rather talk about

[h=2]Antonio Cromartie losing his home to foreclosure[/h]It’s starting to become very evident that Antonio Cromartie has less math ability than I do. The Jets’ cornerback who fancies himself a moden-day Noah, trying to repopulate the Earth all by himself, apparently hasn’t figured out how to make his $8M salary cover the child support for his ten (soon to be twelve) children, and still be able to pay his bills. The NY Post is reporting that the Tallahassee home Cromartie bought with his mother fell into foreclosure after they missed more than $100,000 in payments. Which is impressive, since the purchase price of the home was only $135,000. So essentially, Cro “bought” the home with his mother – presumably with some type of down-payment – and then most likely never made a single payment on it. Although, I suppose it can be tough to keep track of just how many people need a check every single month. With all those kids (by eight different women, no less), maybe a monthly check to a bank just isn’t high on the priority list. Looks like it might be time to cash in on those little rugrats and get them all a TV show! Oh, wait…

LMAO@Cromartie..with his 12 Wonderlic..was even too ****ing dumb to pass the California state written drivers permit test.

Without FB , he'd probably be underqualified to supersize fries under the Golden Arches.
