Can anyone tell me for sure if Tannehill has been allowed to run a qb sneak at ANY TIME during his career in Miami? Because I honestly can't remember a single instance of it happening.

Once again Sunday it's fourth and inches and they get stuffed trying a run just like 99% of the time over the last several years. Why can they NEVER run a qb sneak in those situations?

Yes. He ran one in the preseason. He also ran one in 2013.

I remember that one in 2013 because that was the season that the offensive players mutinied against Mike Sherman and our terrible 3rd and short running game was so ridiculous that reporters started constantly asking Sherman about the QB sneak and he kept giving them snarky, dismissive answers. We then ran a single QB sneak, converted a short yardage situation, and never did it again.

If Tommy Boy always sneaks with the Patsies (succesfully), why can't we?

That was the worst-run play of the game for us. Not the one with the worst outcome (hi Kenny!) but just a mess.

Assuming we were right to go for it (and I think we marginally were) we should have capitalised on Seattle's unpreparedness and hit them fast with a sneak. It was a total gimme.

Instead we prick around, give it to Foster when he hasn't done anything up the middle, Landry pushed Wagner (?) into Foster to make the tackle. Just a bunch of amateur hour play.

I appreciated Ryan Tannehill yesterday. You have to manage a game in that environment and he had us there with a chance in the end.

But there is a definite lack of instinct that is always present with him. Even when he takes off with a designed run, it is very slow and robotic like @ initiation. That fourth down was an absolute mess there is no way that should of taken as long as it did.

He's gotta make defense's respect him by making them pay with improvised legs. Watched New England and Jimmy G was killing Zona.

He's gotta get better in that aspect, it truly is what he is missing in his game. He clearly can make all the throws, he's a tough SOB, he's athletic and pretty darn accurate . . . .just needs to continually work on overall situational football and just become quicker with his actions.

I always wondered the same thing. Especially when it seems everyone, especially new england does it against us

LOL. I said those exact words to my buddy after that play. Brady runs the ball like Bernie Kosar, and NE never fails to get a yard on the sneak.

Agreed, need that in our playbook. And ala Brady expeditiously and with tenacity.

I get flashes of Drew Bledsoe when I watch Tannehll drop back sometimes. Just a statue waiting to get hit. Athleticism means absolutely nothing if you have no instinct. After almost 5 years of watching him play, no one can deny that he does not have the latter.

There is no way to know for sure but I would bet money Tannehill checked out of a QB sneak on that 4th and short. Its cute trying to watch him channel his inner Peyton Manning by waving around the line or whatever nonsense he was doing, but the end result was a turnover on downs. Can't have that. Thats on him.

Perhaps the previous staff was onto something in not giving this guy the freedom that most of his supporters have been screaming in favor of the last 2 seasons. He just can't handle it.

I will take that bet. While I do not know for sure either. Seems kinda silly to think that Tannehill would check out of a QB sneak. I'm sure he was scared of having any contact, because you can see how he is used to not being touched...Or it could be more agenda driven drivel???...which one is more likely??? I thought so.

Interesting. You would "bet money" (i.e., no evidence) Tannehill audibled out of a QB sneak, and use that speculation to say a bad outcome is "on him." No preconcieved notions, eh?

I don't know if.he checked out of the sneak or not...i would think he would love to do it and he isn't afraid of contact. He is a tough sob.

We will never know. But if he did check out of the QB sneak, I don't believe its because he didn't want to take a hit. Nice assumption on your part though.

I just think he legitimately thought he was checking into something better. Wrong thought process if that was the case.

I do have a preconceived notion. I think he did check out of a QB sneak judging by how long it took the play to get off and all the gesturing before the snap.

Do I know for sure? No. Hence why I would feel comfortable betting and putting blame on him for that.

I haven't seen Tannehill attempt many QB sneaks. I assumed that he wasn't very good at them. In contrast Brady has always excelled at them. I doubt that Tannehill checked out of one - he simply rarely does that play.
