Two sources on this...

Does anyone else get the feeling that the Knicks are like that next-door neighbor that's got 6 of everything...and none of them work? They trade one of their 17 power forwards to add their 15th shooting guard. I like this trade a lot for Phoenix, by the way. Thomas is the bruiser they need to help Amare Stoudemire out. And it's not like the NBA has many good centers left anyway, so Thomas can do the job at the 5 for them and should be able to keep up in the running game.

Of course, if the Suns fail to resign Joe Johnson after this, it becomes a disaster.

For the Knicks, well, who cares, really? This is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic at this point.

Good move for Phoenix...Draft day they might change there mind bout going after Ike Diogu now

Great deal for PHX. The Knicks, well, hahahahahahahaha!!! What is the point of getting another streaky scorer?

The Knicks have good players they just don;t know how to use them so this just might end up another bad trade for them. Pheonix seems to get the better end in this.

Who's trading the conditional first rounder?

From what I saw, the Knicks are. ESPN still hasn't picked up the story, by the way, so this still should be taken with a grain of salt, but my general rule is that when two reputable sources report something, I'll post it. (This policy may explain why I'm seldom the first person to report breaking news. I actually CARE about being accurate. ;))

Isiah Thomas is such a terrible GM that I don't even know who the second worst in the NBA is. John Paxson? Elgin Baylor? Chris Mullin? The dearly departed John Weisbrod? Rob Bab****? None of them can hold a candle to Isiah's reign of mismanagement. And I feel terrible ripping the guy, because he's my favorite player of all time, but he is what he is: great player, bad coach, worse executive.

On the plus side, I think Vegas has taken the odds on Phoenix drafting a swingman off the board. Francisco Garcia's agent is pretty thrilled right now.

Phoenix is still highly enamored with Ike Diogu though..I personally feel Garcia will go maybe to the pacers who need a sg desperately after the departure of Reggie Miller. Garcia is basically a clone of reggie in every aspect, deemed the latin assasin he would be a great pickup

I actually like this trade for the Knicks. Thomas is a good rebounded but he takes way to many jumpshots and doesn't bang inside like a real big man. This obviously leaves a log jam in our backcourt but for some reason I like this trade. Maybe because Richardson is youth!

Isiah was ok in Toronto. He took over a mess in NY. Layden is, was, and forever will be the worst GM in NBA history. Isiah walked into a mess. He did a quick turnaround and made the Knicks competitive. But his trades last year at the trading deadline were bad beyond belief.

Isiah has been a joke as far as adding money to a team that clearly needed to stop spending and rebuild. This deal looks like Houston is on his way out. as I've said before, I like the trade because I like Q-Rich but he obviously wasn't a necessity for the Knicks. I really don't know what direction the Knicks are headed in but I'm not surprised that the Knicks are making a trade like this for the simple fact that Isiah has done so many stupid things since he's taken over that I'm numb!

Good for the Suns. Quentin Richardson is an overrated chucker. What the hell is Isiah Thomas doing? Marbury, Crawford, and Q-Rich? Say hello to a lot of low-percentage jumpers and no defense. Maybe Isiah Thomas will play power forward. Unless New York is planning on trading Marbury or Crawford, it was a stupid move to pick up another huge salary that has 4 or 5 years left on his contract. Isiah's been hyping up "small ball" for a while now, but now he's taking this sh-t too seriously.

Kurt Thomas will definitely help out Phoenix and give them one of the better rebounding frontcourts in the NBA.

1-Nash
2-Johnson
3-Marion
4-Thomas
5-Stoudemire
I doubt that fails, but if it does...they may have to look at Jim Jackson.

For the Knicks, I highly doubt Marbury-Crawford-Richardson works out.

That makes one of us. Actually, I have a soft spot for the Knicks, and when the Pistons aren't playing, I pull for them. I think this is a terrible trade. The Knicks gave up the closest thing they have to a real center for yet another swingman. (And it looks like Channing Frye is gone by 8, so they won't get a new big man in the draft) If they're accepting that Allan Houston and Penny Hardaway are done, so be it. But that still leaves Marbury, Richardson and Crawford fighting for 2 positions. Unless they want to push Tim Thomas to the bench, in which case they'll have roughly $45 million in contracts sitting the bench next year in Houston, Hardaway and Thomas.

This goes back to the Mohammed for Malik Rose trade, which was absolutely ridiculous.

Isiah walked into a mess and made it twice as bad. Layden was awful. Terrible. Abysmal. Easily one of the 5 worst GMs in NBA history. But I'm not sure Isiah isn't at his level.

One small note: I'm pretty sure the Suns made this deal with the intent of putting Stoudemire at the 4, not Thomas. Stoudemire was pleading to get moved to the 4 after this year, and I'd be pretty surprised if they don't let him.

BTW, having Steven Hunter coming off the bench for 20 minutes as a high energy shot-blocker, with Thomas taking the pounding down low, could work out really well.

You think Thomas takes too many jumpshots? LOL, wait to you watch Richardson for 35 minutes - you'll be sick of him. Richardson, like Crawford, is a decent young player who can put up good numbers. Thing is, both of them don't belong on winning teams because they're both extremely selfish players. Let's not forget the contract Isiah gave Crawford & how much Q-Rich is making. It's ridiculous. Also, without Nash & Amare, Q's not going to get as many open shots(as if he makes them - the guy gets open three's constantly and knocks down 35% of them), but that won't stop him from chucking up triples.

smh @ Q-Rich attempting 631 triples this year. I could see if you're going to knock down a good number of them, but 35%? That's sad. He beat the number 2 man by 69 triples. :shakeno:
