seeing as how the NHLPA broke down and accepted a cap...how will that affect the next baseball CBA if at all seeing as they are the last sport without a cap and with very little parity

The baseball players union is a lot stronger than the hockey union. It is one of the more powerful unions in the country, they will put up a fight to keep a cap from being put in place, and have a better chance at being successful imo

nobody cares about hockey. They could have sat out 1 year, 2 years or 10 years. The MLB owners can't afford to miss an entire season. 162 games. DOUBLE of a hockey schedule.

And don't give me thsi MLB has no pariaty. Look at the AL East and NL East. Every team is in it (except TB). Look at the Wild Card races, almost every team are in it.

Some teams will always stink no matter what just because they make bad moves. NOT because of money. Minny and Oakland have no money but they win and make the playoffs. Why, cause they spend their money in a wise way.

There will never be a cap in baseball. Never ever ever ever...take it to the bank EVER! You can't compare sports. Each sport is unique in their own way.

The longer the Yankees go without a World Title, the less likely any sort of cap or more restrictive tax becomes. "Never" is a long time, though.

So true.

Every year the Yanks don't win the longer without a cap is 100% dead on accurate. If a team wants to spend and spend and spend, then lose, and pay a huge ammount of revenue sharing, you think other owners will want an end to that? Not in this reality.

Every time the Twins, A's and small market teams make the playoffs teams like Boston, LAA, and NYY can point and say......."SEE ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY"

I tend agree with this argument. The owners would have had a better chance at winning a "salary cap" with the next CBA if the Yanks would have won in 2001, 2003 & if they win this year.

When does the CBA run out ? After 2006 ?

Oh, there will be a cap at some point...it will just be at some ridiculously high number, like $400 million...eventually it will work down to a lower but still ridiculous number, but the owners will push hard to set the precedent even if it won't ever be approached.

Baseball players have the strongest union...and the NHL the weekest.

The NHL needed to sit out 2 years. The union told the players sit out another year and we win we bankrupt the owners they would have to cave to our demands. The players had no balls. Miss one year or two, doesn't matter. They would have won. Players could have gone overseas for a year and made money.

It needs a cap for the good of the game. I AM a Devil Rays fan so don't give me this crap about every team having a shot. There are 4 or 5 teams that have a shot right now, that's it.

A cap would be good for baseball, but it won't happen when you still have smaller market teams (or at least smaller payrolls) winning the World Series... Look back to 03 with the Marlins.

If you truely want a cap, which I do... cheer for the Yanks. They are the team that is the highest payroll. They get the most publicity. If they win two or three more in the next 5 years or so, people will see the problem and MAYBE it can start progressing towards a cap. UNTIL then, it is not going to change.

i dont buy it....the NHL tams arent the only means of income...the owners would not have gone bankrupt...

most of them would have. Especially the ones in the smaller cities like Buffalo, Edminton....etc

id like to see some facts to back this up seeing as the owners lost less money during the lockout than during a season
