Ok I have a question that seems puzzling to me. Back at the end of Aug. it was reported by several sites that Joey's back injury might be career ending, which lead me to say the Fins should sign a linebacker before the start of the season. How can a guy who is allegedly in so much back pain be playing at a pro bowl level? I guess I don’t buy it, was it a smoke and mirrors show or a real injury? I am glad it worked out in the Fins favor and his reemergence is stellar but something just seems off about the initial reports to me.

1- When you win, things don't hurt as much.

2- When you lose, things hurt worse.

3- The press is looking for a story and will create one if necessary. Thier jobs depend on it.

I think it was a prime example of the media jumping to conclusions. The Miami Herald wanted to have a breaking news piece that they could claim they were on top of. Not 100% their fault as any media outlet wants to be the ones to break the news. The Dolphins were worried about his back injury, and the Herald thought that it could have been career ending, so they threw it out as news. If they were wrong, no one really remembers. If they are right, they get credit for breaking big news from Dolphins camp.

Seven weeks into the season Joey Porter is having a career year, not a career ending injury.

Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read, especially stuff from the internet

Either Joey was not that injured and the report was wrong or it was a false report by the Dolphins. If you have noticed with this staff news is very limited compared to the last few years and I wonder how much they play mind games with the media.
