So I don't follow college football very closely. How was Tanehills supporting cast at Texas aM? Did he have any real talent around him like Luck, rgIII, and Weeden?

The most important part is that there were 70 dropped balls. I live in Austin, so I heard a lot about Tan. He is not considered an excellent player here, but everyone realizes that the Angie's are weak in the receiver group. My evaluation would be that 40 of the 70 were all the receivers.

Being a former reciever himself I think he would have adapted.

The first thing you should know is how to spell his name. Tannehill. Two N's. The second thing you should know is that there is a search engine called "Google" that, when you type in what you're interested in, it'll bring up ALLLLLL sorts of information. And there really is no excuse, because even if you spell his name wrong, it'll bring up the correct spelling anyway.

It's also a lot more reliable than the yokels on this forum. In fact, you can even sort by videos!

::sigh::

First thing you should know is this is a discussion forum. Second thing you should know is you add nothing to this forum by being a smartas, and lastly if you don't like this thread hit the back button buddy!

The first thing you should know is that condescending =/= funny

Most of the receivers on tape seem very average, but #25 Ryan Swope seems to be sneakily good.

If you're worried about Tannehill's poor won/loss record as a senior, one reason that always stood out to me is Texas A&M's reluctance to fully convert to the Big 12's bubble screen mentality. The SEC is the one conference that abuses the short passing game, refusing to allow cheap underneath throws to rumble uncontested. Hardly a coincidence that the top 4 defensive YPA teams were from the SEC -- Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Georgia. The Big 12 was the opposite, all but ignoring the cheap stuff. Consequently, when one of teams is in a hole they default to it relentlessly. Oklahoma State did that in the 3rd quarter against Texas A&M to wipe out the deficit. It's not always bubble screens but fakes off of them, as Gruden demonstrated so well last night in the Griffin breakdown. Safety finally rotates forward...pump and go.

Texas A&M used some components of the Big 12 style but they were more conventional. The number of dropped passes, for example, would have been considerably lower if those were cheap throws behind the line of scrimmage. I'm normally uninvolved after halftime but when I watched A&M struggle in those games they were making unnecessary mistakes downfield instead of laughing like heck while chewing up cheap gains and the accompanying one or two touchdowns -- minimum -- that the style equates to per half in the Big 12.

You don't get ranked Top 10 in preseason, or manage hafltime leads of that type against some of the notable teams in the country, if your talent level is lacking.
