I was just wondering if anybody is going to make it to the Raiders game in November. I just got back from Iraq and my new station is Monterey, CA and I am stoked to go see my Dolphins play, and traveling to Miami is not an option right now. I am a couple of hours from the game. Anyway, I am going with the Army outdoor Recreation travel. My wife just spoke to the driver, and she said that last year he had to get police to escort service member / fans or they were going to be attacked by those thug criminal fans. Anyway, this year if you want to go via outdoor recreation, they are not allowing you to wear your jersey due to the security reasons......I was hoping to go that route because there are strength in numbers.........

I am just trying to feel out how many were going and if they planned on bravely representing.......
 
sorry man, won't be out there.....but let me get this straight......visiting team's fans aren't allowed to wear their team jersey's because of 'security concerns'? Are you serious? wt- is wrong with those people?
 
It only applies if you are going with a group sponsored by outdoor recreation. This is an Army program that allows you to purchase tickets and transportation for the game. I wanted to go this route because I would be in a big group. I am a big boy and I can handle myself. However, when you have twenty-thirty guys coming after you it gets a little crazy. Anyway, yeah, everything I'm hearing is that it is pretty risky going to the game. My wife doesn't want me to go. At the minimum drinks and food thrown at you, or worse a beatdown in the urinal. Additionally, the stadium is not exactly in the nice part of town

I am going and will let my phin colors fly. Seriously, the "Raider" mystique of their fans is a myth. I have gone to several Raider games while rooting for opposing teams and wearing their colors without a problem. Sheesh they can't even fill up the stadium. No one is there to pick on you!

Granted, there have been instances, but I venture to say there have been just as many in Philly, San Fran, Detroit, New York and Miami as well. People get hopped up on booze and mouth off which leads to fighting and a gang mentality. Happens everywhere, not just Oakland.
 
i live around the corner from a raiders bar i'm going there with my zach thomas jersey
 
When the Raiders were in L.A., there were just as many Dolphin jerseys as Raider jerseys. But there will always be *******s, it just seems that the Raiders attract more than their fair share. No Oakland game for me, I'll be going to San Diego instead.
 
Nope I'm not going. No family member wants to go. They all have bad memories of the crowd back in 1998(that one we won).
I might have gone if a local tour bus company was going to make a trip, but they aren't.

Wont be at the game but just wanted to welcome you back and thank you for doing what you do. :patriot:
