First off, I'll start by saying that I am not a Dolphins fan. I'm a Steelers fan. But I love the draft, and even have my own draft website.

I did not come here to advertise.

But I'm working on a final mock draft before the draft and I'm always stuck on the first overall pick.

So, I decided the best option would be to come and ask the loyal fans.

So, who do you guys THINK/want to draft with #1?

Most want the safe pick in Chris Long....Some want the Need pick of Jake Long...

I want the homerun hitter in Gholston but thats just me.

Might aswell leave Matt Ryan out of the conversation.
 
Three choices, Jake Long (my personal thought is that this is who we take), Chris Long, or Vernon Gholston.

Parcells has shown repeatedly that if an elite defensive prospect is available he'll take that over an elite offensive prospect in round 1. So, the real question is whether you think there are any elite defensive prospects that would fit a Parcells 3-4? Personally, I think Long has everything you want except elite speed. Gholston has the measurables but isn't as complete as Long. Jake Long is exactly the type of LT Parcells always wanted ... kind of like a better version of Jumbo Elliott--dominant run blocker, dependable and reliable, and a good pass protector.

So, for me, Jake Long is the pick.

The consensus is between Chris or Jake Long at this point. It's highly unlikely we'll take Gholston, Ryan or Dorsey.

2. St. Louis Rams: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
3. Atlanta Falcons: Jake Long, OT, Michigan
4. Oakland Raiders: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
5. Kansas City Chiefs: Sedrick Ellis, DT, Southern Cal
6. New York Jets: Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Ohio St.
7. New England Patritos: Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy
8. Baltimore Ravens: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
9. Cincinnati Bengals: Keith Rivers, OLB/ILB, Southern Cal
10. New Orleans Saints: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tennessee St.

For the time being.
 
I think we are going to take Jake Long....the only thing I am wondering about is Parcells and the Phins haven't really made much contact with him, but he would be the safest pick. I think Chris Long is the other possibility.
 
I sincerely doubt Gholston makes it out of the top 5. If he gets past us and STL, he surely won't get past Oakland, I don't care whether D-Mac is there or not.

That being said. You might as well just put Chris Long as our pick. He is the safest bet. I have it down between Chris Long and Vernon Gholston. I like Gholston to be the pick though.
