Dude has played well at the position in 08. Usually he's solid! I know they had Clemons over there more this year due to potential blag blah blah... I personally would have given him a shot! Think it has to do with politics? that happened to Y. Bell years ago. I would like to hear some responses on that from you guys!

Nobody knows... I mean why didn't they play ANYBODY besides Wilson, why did they have Cobbs returning kicks until her got injured when he sucked at it, why didn't they play Wake more when it looked pretty obvious he was our best pass rusher....

yeah!!! i dont get that! especially with wake!!! they say he wasnt ready blah blah blah! to not be ready and to have the impact that he had....i would do my damnest to get him on the field!!!! also, bess at PR???? i know they could have done better than that!!!! ginn is suspect but i know someone else could have filled that role! they left me scratching my head alot! but to put clemons back there (3 rooks) would have been not good! culver has been steady and I would have gone to him early in the season!! i think its politics at work thats all!

First, because he's basically a STs player. Secondly, he's the backup SS, so that may have some clues to it.

well he played FS in 08 and played well at it when he got in. also, the FS situation needed an infusion of something.... So, you are saying since he's "a SS" he wouldnt be able to play "FS"? Clemons was/is too raw, Wilson just ????

what im saying is that they should have exausted all options that were available before they let that position bring down the pass defense. no?

bess was a st player starting out
hartline was another example. they had shown "worth" at positions that were badly in need of players. FS any different?

Well, they did play someone else other than Wilson, they played Clemons there at times. And I also believe that they have a plan to move Clemons there when he's ready anyways based on what Gil Brandt has said about the fact that he believed that Miami signed Bell basically to a one year deal and signed Wilson to eventually replace Bell at SS since Bell has a $14mil roster bonus due in 2010 (he won't renegociate contract since the non CBA will all but ensure that he will be the best SS available so he will cash in with another team).

He gave the impression that Clemons is being groomed for the starting FS once Bell is gone. So Culver looks to continue to be the backup SS to Wilson if all goes as he said.

The question would be is Sparano moving Jason Allen back to FS to compete with Clemons? Or is he drafting another one later in the draft to compete with Clemons and leaving Allen as Nate Jones replacement at NB?

ahhh! great points!!! i feel you now!!!! excellent inside info!!!

I think so. FS is crucial that many teams consider the QB of the defense. Needs to be a cerebral player on top of having the athleticism to help out the CBs and hard hitting tackler to help out the LBs. They must not see Culver as embodying those qualities.

Yeah, also Nate Jones has 6 years so he is going to be a UFA. He may be gone as well being that we have Will Allen and Jason Allen under contract that can replace him so won't need to give Jones a significant raise. Again, being that no CBA will limit the FAs available, Jones should be bolting for more cash too.

Also, though I would love to see Cam Wake as the starting ROLB replacing Porter next season, I worry if Sparano and the staff worry that Wake is best utilized as a pass rush specialist and not as an every down LB. If this is the case, we could be looking at the staff looking for 2 OLBs instead of one.

I expect Moses to be in the rotation more with/if Porter's gone, as well as Charlie Anderson and Wake. But if they don't see Wake as a fulltime starter, then they probably will keep Jason Taylor and draft 2 OLBs instead of just one.

Probably why they are trying out that CFL guy to see if they can land a gem so that they don't have to draft 2 OLBs.

Hopefully, Wake does improve his pass coverage and run stopping skills and we have one spot covered.

Culver excells at what he does,in the amount of minutes he plays, and I dont think its worth tampering with that.
