Every year I would start by identifying the 4 strengths of draft, then double up accordingly, thus tailoring Free agency around these 4.

Four strengths IMO were:-
WR
DT
DE
OL

My offseason:-

Trade
8 –13 + Alonso & Maxwell (this is not in hindsight. Even if Tunsil had not fallen we needed a CB and ILB and they both fit what VJ wants)

Re-sign
Lamar Miller RB - $6.5m
Derrick Shelby DE - $4.5m

Sign
Geoff Shwartz OG - $840k
Prince Amukamara - $6.0m
Isa Abdul-Quddus - $4.25m

I would also look at Donte Whitner, Walter Thurmond & Amini Silatolu.

Who I would have drafted,

NFL draft (no trades)

1(13)- Laremy Tunsil OT
2(42) – Cody Whitehair OG
3(73) – Andrew Billings DT
4(107) – Hassan Ridgeway DT
5(147) – Rashard Higgins WR
6(186) – Aaron Burbridge WR
7(227) – Eric Striker DE
7(231) – Curt Maggitt DE

With the way draft fell, If Mario Williams was available I would have signed him, if not Bjoern Werner.

I was very surprised that Billings fell as far as he did. When Miami traded up in R3 with Minnesota I thought Billings might be the target.

You make good points about the strength of the draft. I don't know if I've ever seen as many good defensive tackles in one draft and that might be why players like Robinson and Reed ended up going in R2. Both will be big steals IMO.

I'm glad I don't look this hard into the off season draft scene, I feel like I'd always come out depressed if I didn't get what I wanted, Lol

Exactly. If you go into draft with your needs, as the strength of draft, you can hit those players who fall.

What about CBs? How would you have handled that?

He would have signed Prince Amukamara formerly of the NY Giants.

The problem with the draft is that once you select someone, everything that follows changes.

How I tend to handle the offseason and Saturdays and Fridays and Holidays and Game Days...
