I want Quinn probably as much as anyone else on this site, but rational thinking must prevail here. We all know we need a QB but we can't sell the farm to get one. If Quinn gets within our reach where we can get him at a reasonable price thats great but we can't give up the draft for the sake of one position. Hopefully we have seen the last of that with this franchise. It seems like the Dolphins have given away enough draft picks to make up a whole team. Hopefully we get Quinn but if we don't I am sure Mueller and Cam will do something to address the situation.
Spot on dude. I'd LOVE to get Quinn, friggin' LOVE it. I've never wanted this organization to draft a player MORE that I want them to draft Quinn. However, I do NOT want to go back to the old ways of giving up picks in future drafts and all that to do it, we just cant afford that anymore. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that one of two things happen:
1 - Quinn falls past Cleveland and puts us in prime position to move ahead of the Vikings and go to the #6 spot where Washington sits. As long he gets passed Cleveland he is as good as ours. Washington doesn't have another pick until round FIVE, so they obviously aren't going to turn down extra picks to stay at #6 when they could easily probably get whomever they are looking at 3 picks later with the #9. Even IF the Vikes want Quinn (I doubt they WANT him, but I don't doubt they'd TAKE him if he were there at #7) we can offer more to move up to #6 than they can. If they use the value chart they'd offer the #7 and something like a 4th and 6th since it is only 100 value difference, but we would offer the #9 and either our 3rd rounder or second 2nd rounder. I'm thinkin if you have no picks after the 1st round until the FIFTH round, you'd want another first day pick over another one or 2 second day picks.
2 - By some miracle we make a trade with the Lions that has us keeping all the 2008 draft picks and only giving up both 2nds (or a 2nd and 3rd) and Daunte. It seems far fetched, since the value doesn't add up on the chart, but it depends on how muc they value Daunte. I've seen crazier things, so while I am not even really considering this as a plausible option, I'm still gonna throw it out there as food for thought.
Have you seen The Sporting News rating on Quinn. It is a third round pick. They compare him to Joey Harrington. Then they ask him who he is like and he says he has similarities to Tom Brady. He is a guy who scares me because if he is a bust even at pick nine it will take a while to recover.
I HAVE seen the Sporting News, and a minute into reading it I realized it was absolute CRAP and tossed it out. Brady as a 3rd round QB but Russell and Kolb as first rounders and NOBODY worthy of a 2nd round choice?
Brady rated something like a 5.4 but Russell rated as a high 8.something if I remember correctly? They rated Russell higher than Marino, Elway, Montana, and Aikman (they had a feature awhile back where they rated HoF QBs). Tell me, do you think Russell is better than those four QBs, or even has the SLIGHTEST chance of making that true?
They also have Quinn dropping to #23 in the mock. Do you HONESTLY think we would pass on him at #9, let alone Jacksonville at #17, or even Green Bay at #16 since they don't seem very pleased with Aaron Rodgers. Also, Buffalo and St. Louis could even take a shot at him to compete with Losman and Bulger respectively. No way Quinn falls out of the top 10, let alone all the way to #23
Their mock also has us taking Paul Posluszny at #9 if I remember correctly, and that is way too high for him.
The entire guide is a joke, worst "Draft Guide" I have ever seen.
You are right about that. Everyone talks about Bellicheck being a genius but his genius (and the Dolphins shortcomings) are linked to one position. Bellicheck is a genius because of Brady and the Dolphins havent done much recently because their quarterbacks suck.
And Daunte is not the answer. Even when he was good he made too many mistakes.
This post contradicts your very next post that says Quinn still scares you. On one hand, you say Bellicheck isn't a genius it's all Tom Brady, yet the other hand you say you don't trust Quinn, when he was developed by the same guy who developed Brady, and can make every throw Brady can and has run every play Brady has, not to mention has watched ALL the footage on Brady and talked to him multiple times a week for 2 years. The kid is basically the next Tom Brady judging by his work ethic and preparation in addition to the offense he spent 2 years mastering and who taught it to him.
I agree that Bellick isn't the genius everyone thinks he is (hence him not going back to the Super Bowl after Weis and Crennel left) and he wouldn't have much of the success he is credited for if Tom Brady weren't there (god it KILLS me to admitt that), but that's as far as I go, because I see Quinn being a carbon copy of Brady. And before everyone jumps down my throat, I am NOT saying Quinn will be as good as or better than Tom Brady (although I think he has a great chance TO be), I am merely stating that he will have similar playing style and tendancies and work ethic to Tom Brady.
