The 52nd pick in the 2008 draft, Groves hasn't recorded a sack since his rookie season. The Dolphins are considering a hybrid defense this season, so Groves' versatility could appeal in a backup role.

Has some talent, could make strides at OLB in 3-4 sets. They have played this guy at OLB in a 4-3 and DE in a 4-3 . . . I think a versatile/hybrid type of defense could benefit Groves. Doesn't hurt to bring him in . . . Ireland liked him in 2008 also.

By " versatility" they mean that he put on weight which is one reason he has lost his speed.
 
Sign vet players on the cheap and give them a chance to prove themselves.
