Ok guys, there has long been a rule against quoting other members remarks in signatures. While I'll admit we've been lax on this for a while now, we've decided it's best if we start to enforce this rule again. Quoting other members in a signature tend to belittle that member and creates a hostile posting environment. That being said we're giving you guys a week to remove them on your own before we start doing it for you and giving out warnings/infractions.
 
Is it okay to quote a great, prescient, or really funny post in a way that's giving credit to the person who posted it?

I wish it was, unfortunately, it will inevitably lead to people trying to walk the line and getting into long discussions about why theirs is okay, isn't meant to be insulting, claims of favoritism, etc. Just best for everybody if we keep the quotes out of the sigs altogether.

Darn. Because I have a whole series of PMs from KTOWN thanking me for quoting him in my sig. No lie. :lol:

Guess I'll have to go with a new sig.

Considering the site was just fine when the rule was enforced before, I see no reason why it wouldn't be when it's enforced again.

let's be clear here, i wouldn't be using quotes to belittle others. i'd just make sure nobody forgets how some posters belittled themselves
