For all the Ronnie Brown haters out there at least Saban picked the one of the best players so far out of the top 7 taken that year.

1. Alex Smith QB 49ers (so far a bust)
2. Ronnie Brown
3. Braylon Edwards WR Cleve (very good wr)
4. Cedric Benson RB Da Bears (bust and looking for work)
5. Cadillac Williams RB TB (Always in the shop)
6. Pacman Jones CB Ten (criminal)
7. Troy Williamson WR Min (Is he really a bust when he shouldn't have gone this high anyway?)

Oh and I believe the boy Kiper had as the #1 overall pick Mike Williams is who went at 10? to Detroit (bust)

I know Merriman is a stud but at the time wasn't considered a top 10 pick.

I agree, that was a very weak draft and if Ronnie can play like last year, he was a great pick.

There is only 3 good Player that were taken in the top 7 Ronnie brown, Pacman, and Edwards, williams is good but he is hurt way to much

Good teams know when to reach. Ware and Merriman were on my short wish list and so was Braylon, so I can't give them a pass. A RB that high has to produce BIG and he just hasn't done that yet. So far Ronnie is nothing more than a tease. A good player but nothing more than a tease. Ware and Merriman, coming from the same draft, have already established themselves as stars and the reason you have to defend him is because he hasn't yet. The jury is still out.

In general, a case can be made for Edwards over Ronnie, but based on the Fins' recent woebegone condition, Edwards talent would have gone wasted here. In retrospect, Ronnie turned out to be the right pick. Now as far as little Nicky the munchkin-sized, bullying, overrated, underperforming POS traitor making the selection, hell, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

brown was the best pick... not worthy of a #2 but in that draft and of the top five picked he was the best choice....edwards was injuried early in his career

Edwards had a serious infection that caused him to miss extended time.

In any draft Ronnie Brown would be a solid pick! You cannot go wrong with Ronnie on your team!

It's time to forget where RB was drafted and focus on what he needs to do to become a productive NFL RB.... some he can control... others he can't...

Stay healthy... stay in shape.... self determination... stop dancing.... etc....

The dancing stop last year, he has self determination, he doees stay in shape but injuries are part of the game. Anywayns blame cleo cause he didn't get injured runnning the ball.

I like Ronnie Brown as a player but i think that part of the reason we took him is because of Nick Saban's gay little SEC bias towards selecting players. In the same way that Cam drafted the whole Ginn family so did Nick Saban when he took Allen. "I've known this guy for years and his family for years" and blah, blah, blah.

remember theres a difference between playing on a great defense and being the RB for the phins... past 3 years atleast.... if ronnie didnt get that freak knee injury the jury wouldnt still be out for you... but just because he doesn't top the league in yards he's not proven ? How about his career YPC on what little carries he's gotten ? People forget that our team sucks sometimes.... We know what we have in Ronnie, now it's up to the team to utilize him !!!

the entire first round was kind of meh.

1.Smith-bust so far, but has had 4 different OCs
2.Brown-has been very good at times, but has always had to split carries
3.Edwards-Great WR.
4.Benson-People actually said we'd regret passing him.
5.Caddy-ROY, but has been injured ever since
6.PacMan-Good player but an idiot
7.Williamson-Should not have gone so high, but is a bust
8.Rolle-is being moved to FS so I'll say he's somewhat of a bust
9.Rogers-Has yet to step his game up
10.Williams-Bust
11.Ware-Very good player
12.Merriman-He's a jerk, but a good player
13.Brown-Pro Bowl LT
14.Davis-S who became a LB, not the player Carolina hoped they were getting
15.D Johnson-For what he was hyped up to be coming out of college, I'd say he's a disappointment
16.T Johnson-Failure as a DE in the 3-4, not all that good as a DT in the 4-3. Most known for talking trash to an unconsious Trent Green
17.Pollack-sadly had to retire his 2nd year after a devastating neck injury
18.James-Waived by Minny for never being healthy. Bust
19.Barron-Adequate RT, but not overly impressive
20.Spears-Solid 3-4 DE, but not special
21.Jones-Proof as why you don't draft based on pure athleticism.
22.Clayton-Decent number 2 WR, but hasn't developed like the Ratbirds had hoped
23.Washington-drafted based on speed, Good 2nd year, lousy last year.
24.Rodgers-We'll find out this year
25.Campbell-Don't think he's developed quite like the Skins hoped he would
26.Spencer-Above average Center
27.White-Looked like trash with Ron Mexico, actually looked like a pro bowler with Joey Harrington and Chris Redman
28.Castillo-Good 3-4 DE
29.Jackson-Solid CB. Sealed the AFC championship for the Colts
30.Miller-One of the better TEs in the league
31.Patterson-Good DT
32.Mankins-Great OG

There are a lot of guys who could be cut this year if they don't perform
