The Raiders on Thursday signed Derek Carr to a five-year, $125 million extension with $40 million fully guaranteed, $70 million in total guarantees and a $12.5 million signing bonus, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, citing sources familiar with the deal. The deal has elevated Carr over Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck as the league's highest paid player in terms of average money per year.

Makes sense. Lock up their franchise QB for years. Any franchise QB who re-signs this year would be around that range.

So all the talk about Tannehill not wining a playoff game was just talk I guess. How many has Carr won? I'm not saying Carr isn't better than Tannehill, but leaning on the number of playoff wins as proof just lost some merit. Through three seasons Carr has a better td to int % than Tannehill, but has yet to pass for 4,000 yards, yet to complete 65 % of his passes and his team's record through 3 seasons is .500. Again not so much knocking Carr, just saying Tannehill checked as many boxes through 3 seasons and some of the same negatives people threw at Tannehill can be used for Carr too.

Money well spent. Carr had the Raiders playing good football before he got hurt. Maybe the second best team in the AFC. Raiders struggled more without him, than we did when Tannehill went down. He's the real deal and Oak is set for awhile. They definitely have a great supporting cast around him.

From what I read about Carr speaking on the deal, worked it out so Mack, Cooper, etc would be factored in when they get their pay day, that cast around him is going to be strong for a good amount of time. Just a matter of seeing how Lynch plays for the 2 years he is there(have a hunch he is going to ball out for Oakland and try to get a ring before team vanishes to Vegas)

I think if Carr wouldn't have went down the Raiders would have made it to the AFC championship.
