VP of personnel Billy Devaney noted that Long is a better run defender than Vernon Gholston and is more than just a "try hard" player. Devaney added he thinks it'd be "scary" to use the No. 2 overall pick on a defensive tackle.

Liking someone more than anyone else, and getting them, are two different things.

Yeah I understand that but are you seriously going to give up like a fifth round pick to move up one spot?

It would cost more than a fifth round pick to move up,I imagine.

Really? I didnt at all. Now I look at the draft chart and your right. Here is the breakdown:

First Ovrl Pick - 3000
Scd Ovrl Pick- 2600

Total Diff. - 400 points

400 Pts = 18th overall pick in SECOND round.

But they have the second pick so they would have to give us the following to make it equal value:

Swap First rounders
Round 3 pick - Value - 260
Round 4 pick - Value - 108
Round 5 pick - Value - 42
= 410 points

It would be a little over but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

If I did that right on the Draft Value chart, I would not move up ONE spot to get a player. Thats giving up half of your draft, only Mike Ditka would do that.

I'm pretty sure St.Louis offering to swap first rounders and giving a 3rd rounder to Mimai would be more than enough to get the trade done.

Many teams don't necessarily use the trade value chart. It's very unrealistic for the Rams to give up their 1,3,4 and 5 to move up one spot.

1 and 3 would do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Miami give up a 4th round pick to Minnesota in 2004 to move up one spot from #20 to #19 and select Vernon Carey?

One would have to assume if the Rams actually did this they really covet one of the Longs over the other.

We'd still get to nab the other one, while picking up an extra 3rd in the process. Not bad, but I don't think it's gonna happen.
