First the Lions, now the Rams. This is what I've been afraid of, Beck won't be there at #40.

RAMS WANT BECK?
There are rumors making the rounds that the St. Louis Rams have contacted teams at the bottom of round one regarding the possibility of getting a chance to pick BYU quarterback John Beck before the Lions use their second-round draft selection.
The Rams most likely wouldn't be trading down from the No. 13 spot; they'd be trading up from their spot in round two, where they hold the 20th (No. 52 overall) pick.
Marc Bulger currently is the starting quarterback in St. Louis, but he was signed by a prior regime. And Bulger is under contract only through 2007, at a salary of $3.95 million. If the Rams believed Bulger to be the long-term answer, wouldn't they have extended him by now?
Hey, Rams -- why not offer Bulger and the No. 13 overall pick to the Lions and move up to No. 2? Then St. Louis can get either JaMarcus Russell or Brady Quinn.
If they even would want them. The Rams could be one of the teams who view guys like John Beck as better than Russell or Quinn.

Didn't Bulger just came out of a pro bowl year, and is only 30?

I guess for insurance, Beck can go in as a back up. But Bulger still has a lot of game in him.

yeah that is interesting, bulger being only 30, but beck already being 25... i mean bulger has at least 4-5 years left in him barring injury, though he does get injured a lot... by the time beck would get the starting nod he could be 30 himself...

hmmmm

I like Linehan, I wish that we still had him and I think that he's a sharp guy. When you can get a special QB, you do it. There's something about Beck that just jumps out at me in what little I've seen. I never thought that he would take off like this, though. I was thinking of taking him at #40 to secure him instead of #60. Now these articles are coming out the last two days about him skyrocketing, I don't like it one bit.

I wish Linehan was available when Saban left. He would have been great here in Miami. He provided such an aggresive spark on our offense with his vertical passing game that we haven't had in years.

if beck is gone at 40, then some of the others will be there...

we will get a qb in the 2nd rd.

Bulger is a very old 30, every snap he got crushed under MM regime.

In my very humble, very limited opinion Beck is the clear choice over Kolb, Edwards, and Stanton.

Wow, Beck is flying up the boards. It really does seem like we will need to use that first 2nd rounder on a QB if they start going quickly.

Alot of People dont believe PFT, but they crack down on rumors pretty good. I personally find them very reliable. If PFT is telling the truth Beck,Kolb,Staton and Edwards all will be gone by the time the 2nd round is over. Look at it this way. If Detroit, Cleveland, and Minnesota pass up on QB's they will draft QB's in the second round.
