Some random observations:

1. Coaching really matters. Super impressed with Gase & Vance Joseph, who will also likely be a head coach in this league one day. Gase has done wonders with establishing a culture of accountability, game planning, and developing the quarterbacks. Love the offensive scheme and he has managed to do a decent job with an offensive line that has zero depth. Makes you kind of pissed for the wasted "Failbin" years.

2. Secondary not as bad as we thought. Howard, Maxwell, & Lippett look to be solid pieces. Could still add another corner in the slot in the off season. Reshad Jones is a stud when he returns healthy, and Rambo looks like he can be a solid contributor. I personally thought we entered this season with our secondary as our number one weakness, turns out it was not. Got to give Joseph and the players all the credit in the world on this one, and Tannebaum made a nice trade that brought Maxwell here from the eagles.

3. Linebackers are our greatest weakness on Defense. Alonzo is a nice piece in the middle, but we need to add two thumpers on the outside with some speed and the ability to cover, especially in the seems/middle of the field. We should let Jelani Jenkins go because of his unreliable health status and add at least one in the early rounds of the draft and at least one in free agency.

4. Cameron Wake is amazing! Not sure how much longer he can continue to play at this level after recovering from his Achilles injury. I figure he has at least one more year. If Dion Jordan can keep his head on straight through the off season and remains committed to becoming a professional football player, then I believe Joseph will be able to get something out of him. We should still add another young stud pass rusher in the draft or from Canada if we can find one, how ironic that would be, to provide some depth to step up for Wake when for when he inevitably declines in the next couple of years

5. Defensive line is the strength of this team. Suh is playing like the beast we all knew he is, and we need to lock up Andre Branch asap and cut Mario Williams.

6. Love Jay Ajayi. Running backs way better than I thought they are when we started the season. Damien Williams and Kenyan drake solid complimentary weapons.

7. Special Teams is elite. Lots of game winning or momentum turning plays from this group. Solid tacklers. Must replace our kicker obviously, he sucks. Can't believe he missed that extra point yesterday.

8. Ryan Tannehill has really developed this year. I know the numbers are slightly skewed because he played in 4 stinkers earlier in the year, those 4 losses that we had, but I have noticed he has taken great strides in pocket awareness, mobility, line of scrimmage adjustments pre-snap, and deep ball accuracy. I think that he has a chance to be a great QB in this league. Lots of upside and talent, he suffered from poor coaching in Texas A&M and through the "Failbin" era so this is why it has taken so long for him to start to develop properly, he is talented. I hope he comes back from his injury in time to participate in as much as the off season as possible, I think he is starting to get it.

9. Offensive line is almost there, but not quite. Tunsil is an outstanding addition. I was bummed that the team didn't have the testicular fortitude to draft La'el Collins year before last like in the 3rd round or something (imagine if they had), Albert is solid, but might only have one season left. Pouncey is unreliable, and I don't trust Juwan James, he is a mediocre right tackle, but Gase has done a great job scheming to hide it's weaknesses. We probably need to draft a versatile guard who can also play center or the reverse, and possibly someone to provide depth and competition to Juawn James at right tackle. I wouldn't mind seeing Tunsil earn the left tackle position next year and either kick Brandon Albert inside.

10. Committing to the Run Game is critically important and has really helped us with the offense this year even if it hasn't always been world beating. They put 8 or 9 in the box, and we throw it deep because there is no safety help. Good to see both Moore and Tannehill taking more shots vs 8 man fronts. Of course, one of the reasons I would like to see the O-line upgraded is so that we can continue to have it as a threat that must be respected.

11. I predict we will beat the Bills because they are losers. I recognize it all to well as I assume you my fellow Dolphins fans do because it's like looking in the mirror in the past. Ryan is cloaked in failure and I'm not sure why they would play with confidence. Miami meanwhile believes that we can win, and you can see it. (minus the Baltimore game, but every team has bad days).

12. As a dolphins fan since 1974, I can tell you that i finally believe that we have got something that is sustainable with regards to fielding a competitive football team that is always in the hunt to play meaningful games in December and January. It's been a desert this past 16 years minus one or two years, but this time, I think we have a quarterback (maybe two) and a really good coaching staff. No reason we can't be even better next year than we are this year.

13. I think on any given sunday we are capable of beating anyone should we make the playoffs. There are no super teams, New England being the closest thing. Would love to get Baltimore again, I think Vance Joseph and Adam Gase will make the appropriate adjustments and if we are relatively healthy, we have a shot to beat anyone this year.

That's all I have to say for now...

We got a coach finally thats the bottom line. There are former special teamers and free agents that could not make our roster playing for the pats as starters which is what a good /great coach does maybe we got ours at last

The culture change has been amazing.

Sorry...the special teams are not "elite." Just because we ran a couple back, doesn't make them elite. How many kicks have we had blocked? How many kicks/extra points have we missed? How poor have we been at pinning opponents deep?

We have had a couple of great plays...but we have had plenty of really bad plays too. There is no way I would call our ST's "elite."

Okay, I meant to be more specific. I am of the opinion that our special teams coverage teams are elite. Our punt and kick off coverage teams are outstanding and have contributed to us winning multiple games on our winning streak. I would also say that our return teams are also pretty good in that they have also had a hand in at least two victories.

Where does our punter rank? Isn't he in the top half of the league?

Our kicker sucks, that's a fact, sorry for not being more specific but I was typing kind of fast...

Great points.

I agree linebacker is the number one need. The team needs to draft a playmaker at the position to team with Alonso. The better teams have made this weakness stand out in a really bad way.

As to the offensive line, unfortunately Albert and Pouncey are unreliable due to injuries. Both are outstanding football players when healthy, but that is problematic. I think at least one high draft pick needs to be spent on the offensive line....maybe Elflein from Ohio State who can play guard or center.

This team seems to be on the right track. It is exciting to be a Dolphins fan, which hasn't been the case for a long, long time.

Not sure why you think Buffalo will be easy. If anything they'll be tougher than normal. Ryan teams always have that tendency to rally and finish seasons his job is in jeopardy on an upswing. Plus they've got their key offensive weapons back. On the road. In the cold. Not easy.

As for number 2, lippet came out of no where and Howard has been better than expect, just hurt. Maxwell looked awful at first. I'm pleased w the secondary.

Jones being hurt all year was a bummer but Rambo has been decent.

Normally I would agree, but Rex is a walking corpse

Dallas Thomas gets cut => We win 8 out of 9 & Zika goes away.

Gase is firm but fair. He knows when to support his players and when to hold them accountable. He's NOT a players coach (like Wanny) and he's not dictator (like Saban). Players don't do what he says just because the coach tells them to....they do it because it's what's best for the TEAM. They respect Gase as their leader, rather than just their boss:

Players know if the work hard they will be rewarded...if they slack off they'll be cut (eventually).

Clearly coaching matters. One aspect I don't see mentioned is free-lancing by players. During Philbin's tenure and the first few games of Gase's tenure were comments about players free-lancing. Not uncommon in losing teams. No faith in the coaches. Winning changes that. When the players buy in to a coach's scheme, freelancing disappears. As for Gase/VJ, it's been said by many . . . what's up with the slow starts and, apparently, slow adjustments? What's the obsession with bubbles? I remember few hot reads on blitzes. OTOH, the accomplishments in spite of injuries has been impressive. As for the OL, some seem to want a massive overhaul. Replace the injury-prone Albert/Pouncey. Replace James and Bushrod. That's beyond realistic and in sight of delusional. The starting 5 have shown to be effective. Yes, injuries are concerning, but Miami will NOT have 4 new starters (and 2 new backups) next year. The OL is pretty good. For now, I expect Gase will have Albert/Pouncey back next year, one new OG, and a hope for limited injuries.

Since Coach Gase can get these players to play well, we can build forward with this team. The only must have is an improvement with the LBs. Mario should be released at the end of the year, but that is the only must release player. I am happy that we do not need another tear down. That is a huge step forward.

Special teams has scored almost every way that is possible. The special teams hat trick. I'd say that is pretty good.

Extra Point
Field Goal
Blocked punt for TD
Returned Punt for TD
Returned Kick off for TD
Blocked X point for 2 point score.

About the only thing left is to block a FG and return it for a TD. I'm loving this version of our special teams.

I'm gonna throw in Darren Rizzi as a coach that deserves alot of praise as well.
