Random Thoughts on the Season So Far

OL is woeful with Marin and Cog, and without them, cut them both.

I'm satisfied to leave that to the coaches, but I will say that Incognito is serviceable, and will play fine for another team if he doesn't stay with us.

Tanny has a big arm and throws well in the seam and to the out. Both are tough throws for most QBs and he does them well. Anything that requires touch though, just not great. Judgments about QBs made early can be wrong, but that's more the exception than the rule. With QBs you can tell if they have it or not after a year or two. Not based on wins or loses, but what you see. Tanny looks like a starter to me, not a star.

I agree.

Tanny is a good athlete with good straight line speed, but he is not quick. Every time I watch him, I'm reminded just how nifty Marino was in the pocket.

That's exactly right, and for a former receiver, it's shocking how little mobility and shiftiness he has. Nothing seems quick to me, not the flick of his wrist, not his reads, not his movements, not his scrambling. He is not natural in the pocket.

Lamar Miller is not the answer at RB. I know he's had no holes, but he just looks like a fast guy not a running back.

Totally agree. He is a good change-up back.

I've seen nothing out of Philbin to suggest that he is a top coach. Seems like a placeholder to me. No innovation, no motivation, no discipline that matters.

I don't see any innovation, either, or any success worth mentioning. And although the O line has played well since the Incognito/Martin fiasco, just think about the fact that we would still have that going on, and no teamwork on the line, if Martin didn't walk away. Tannehill would have been on his butt the whole Panthers game and we wouldn't have come as close as we did to winning. They don't seem to do anything unless someone forces their hand.

Like I said after last season, if you have a chit load of draft picks, and money to spend, Jeff Ireland isn't the guy you want picking and spending. That is on Ross, and that was the biggest mistake made going into this season.

I wasn't on this board at the time, but whenever someone mentioned that, I thought...nah..he can't possibly screw up this draft, he has too many picks! I had no idea we'd get nothing out of it. Nothing. And imo, unless Jordan becomes the second coming...I also don't think it was worth spending 2 high draft picks for him.

This season reminds me of masturbation.
It started off feeling good, and then we realized we were just f***ing ourselves.

wasnt it you who made a crack to Southbeach about the time in the tape where something happened and you made a jerk off reference?

Me thinks you masterbate alot.

I don't like the fact that Tannehill is having trouble hitting Wallace in stride on the deep passes. However, I'm willing to give him more time, but it must be with a new coaching staff and a new offense that has a more balanced attack. I'd like to see more deep passes, screens, and running rather than the short passing game that Philbin is giving us. I think that with a big strong o-line to protect him, Tannehill will have an easier time improving his game, as he'd have more time in the pocket to let plays develop. Philbin hasn't placed any importance on the o-line since he's been here because his offense is based on short timing routes. A strong o-line and a good running game will definitely help Tannehill, but I don't think that those are "must-haves" in Philbin's system.

They better be or else he will be walked out the door midseason.

There isnt a position of need greater than Oline and you need 5 starters there. It does not matter the system. You need good Oline. Philbin is not stupid enough to think this. What we need is 5 seconds to hit Wallace deep 5 times a game.

And to Wallace I say everyone was bamboozled into thinking these guys would have to hit it off bigtime in order to justify the money. Well, Philbin is only looking for improvement into the future. It is getting better but of course more is needed.

But as I said before, Wallace will be much more in tune next year. Once again, think Mario Williams.
