Did Gus Frerotte even hit the ground on Sunday? What a great pass blocking effort by the offensive line and Randy McMichael. McMichael didn't catch a lot of passes, but was huge in supporting the line against Julius Peppers. This was the best effort by the offensive line in a long time.

Gus played a solid game considering that Carolina is a super bowl contender and did a number the previous week on Tom Brady. He's certainly a little hot and cold, but has the deep arm to stretch the defense which plays big in Lineham's attack.

I know Pennington is a Jet, but I always liked him as a quarterback. He's not a guy who will beat you deep, but certainly is very accurate and a leader, but he can't stay healthy. New York is going to have to take a quarterback in next year's draft or through free agency.

Cornerback now looks like Miami's biggest need, even though LT is certainly still a huge need. I'm not convinced that McIntosh is the long-term answer and Carey, although playing well, doesn't seem quick enough for the position. Just an early observation anyway.

Sam Madison makes too many stupid mistakes for a veteran player who has seen the pro bowl.

Trayner has been such a huge (no pun intended) acquisition. No doubt, he can still play. I wish he was 28, instead of 35. Zach Thomas is off to an incredible start and, if he can stay healthy and continue on his current pace, some defensive MVP votes could come his way.

Finally, it's ironic that teams ran successfully on Miami last year. It's clear in the early going (if the team remains healthy) that the opponents will have to beat Miami throught the air.

Irony had nothing to do with it. Losing Chester and Bowens for the season did. Other than that I agree with most of your thoughts.

Its Traylor not Trayner by the way.

Dline and LB's are looking great, the secondary is weak and the team needs to address the problem before an all out air assault is unleashed on them.

Traylor was a great pickup. He'd get my vote for defensive MVP of the Fins so far this year.

Here goes with my random thoughts. Spin, spin, stop. "Take out the garbage tonight." Oh well, . . . .

Its real close between him a Zach. But he's obviously a big reason why no one has been able to run on us thus far.

After Sunday's game, I really wonder if Saban will keep Madison next year. Granted, he has played pretty well this year, but that was an awful performance against Carolina made worse by the penalties. Poole could help if he comes back at mid-season, but I'm not sure anyone else is out there to help right away.

Yes, that is true. But, I didn't expect Traylor and Holiday to be so good inside. The Dolphins front seven is playing exceptionally well. Hopefully, Seau won't be out to long.

No way, I like Traylor and he's done a real good job so far, but Zach has been a monster.

What are the chances of Poole coming back for this season?

I read that it may six games into the season. I think I read that in Dolphin Digest for what it's worth. That would be great if he could come back at about the halfway point.

I'm sure Madison will rebound. His first two games were good. I do wonder, though, if it was a coaching decision for Madison to give Smith so much of a cushion. That really doesn't fit into his style of playing, which is being physical at the line of scrimmage. If so, some of the blame has to go to the coaching staff. I've always liked Sam, but I admittedly am bothered with the number of dumb penalties he has made in recent years.

Traylor has been a pleasant surprise. The OL is beginning to gell thanks to some good coaching but the talent level leaves something to be desired. It definetely was their best performance of the year although they still have to work on penalties and opening holes for the RBs.

Getting Poole back would be a great help.

I could be wrong but I think SF Dolphin Fan meant league mvp, and I happen to agree. Remember, Five-Four is not just making tackles. He's blitzing all over the place at different spots.
