Ok, so this may go down in history as one of the most pointless and random threads in the history of of this site, but it is something that I would like to bring up. So I was talking to my friend today about the Titans game next week and he was like "If we win it we'll be 4-2 this year against non-divisional afc opponents. That will be almost like old times."
I remembered that we used to have a good record against non-divisional afc opponents but I never realized how good so I looked it up. Do you realize that from 1997 to 2001 we went a combined 19-1 against non-divisional afc
teams? That is seriously an amazing record. Like I said I know how random this is, but it is such an astounding stat I thought I had to share it with people who didn't realize it.
Because I'm bored and sick of studying for finals, I'm going to post the results of all of those games:
1997
Tennessee W 16-13
Kansas City W 17-14
@ Baltimore W 24-13
@ Oakland W 34-16

1998
Pittsburgh W 21-0
@ Jacksonville L 28-21
@ Oakland W 27-17
Denver W 31-21

1999
@ Denver W 38-21
@ Oakland W 16-9
Tennessee W 17-0
San Diego W 12-9

2000
Seattle W 23-0
Baltimore W 19-6
@ Cincinnati W 31-16
@ San Diego W 17-7

2001
@ Tennessee W 31-23
Oakland W 18-15
@ Seattle W 24-20
Denver W 21-10

nice stat, very interesting.

I remember that Jax loss, it was a Monday nighter and we were down 14-0, then went up 21-14, and I got too excited. And then

One thing I allways wondered. If we were so good against those type of afc teams in the regular season, how come it didn't translate into wins in the playoffs? From 1998-2001 we were so good against non divisional afc teams in the regular season, but in those years we got blown out in the playoffs by the Broncos, Jaguars, Raiders and Ravens respectively. Kinda weird
