I was listening to NFL on Sirius 2 days ago and a caller asked about the Dolphins chances of winning the AFC East.
Randy Cross emphatically stated that he thought that was unrealistic.
He then concluded by posing a rhetorical question. Do the Dolphins have a chance of overtaking the Pats? Then he answered, "not in this lifetime"

For the record I've always considered Randy Cross an idiot, and those remarks confirmed it.

Before I clicked on your thread I thought to myself, "I wonder what that moron had to say?" And sure enough, he proved himself to be the idiot we all know he is. I don't listen to Sirius 124 whenever he's on. He shouldn't have a show on regular FM if you ask me..

I just got a Sirius receiver for my car (fathers day gift) and unfortunately didn't know any better.
I fully understand the respect given to the Pats, but if you are going to give commentary you are supposed to know more than the average fan and be able to analyze offseason moves/ draft and make informed analysis and predictions.
The Pats defense was ranked in the mid 20's last season and they lost McGinest. Harrison is coming off a major injury and he is getting old (as are Bruschi and Vrabel).
They have done next to nothing this offseason to upgrade their defense. Their 1st 2 picks in the draft were on offense.
It would not surprise me at all to see the Pats miss the playoffs entirely.
If they start off slowly, it could have a snowball effect on their psyche and they could fall apart.
I just don't see them as this invincible obstacle that some in the media make them out to be.

You got that right, and an arrogant jerk to boot.

There is a fine line between arrogance and confidence. He's definitely on the wrong side. This is the same reason why I can't stand listening to Schlereth or Golic.

Cross is a long time Fin hater...every have to listen to him calling a Fins game ?? Unbelieveable... If I remember correctly, he was knocked out for the year playing against the Fins back in his day and he's held a grudge since then....

At any rate, the one thing I dislike the most about him is his inability to call a game from a neutral viewpoint, like most announcers ( or color guys) try to do. He has his favs...ever hear him call a 49ers game...you'd think they were still the same team as in the 80's no matter how pathetic they are playing...

His making a statement like that doesn't surprise me at all...

Not in this lifetime?
What kind of idiotic remark is that? Does this guy honestly believe the Pats will win the division for the next twenty years? There's being opinionated and there's being a moron, and that guy is a moron.

Maybe he plans on doing everyone a favor and offing himself before the season starts. If that were the case, the Dolphins indeed would never overtake the Pats in his lifetime.

I hate Randy Cross. He doesn't deserve a spot on Sirius.

That being said, I hate almost all weekend Sirius NFL programming.

Maybe he isn't planning on living much longer. :cooldude:

I don't agree with Randy but I got sirius about four months ago and the nfl radio channel is addicting. Definetly a must have in the off season I have it in my car and have a boombox to listen to it at work. If you like football you should get Sirius.

I'm actually not one who thinks that anyone who disagrees with my opinion is an idiot, which is a trap many posters here seem to get caught in. However, for many other reasons I do think Randy Cross is one of the worst football analysts out there. It seems like he reads up on the teams and players he's covering like 5 minutes before the game and then finds one team, unit (offense, defense special teams) or player he seems to focus on throughout the game no matter who's winning or what the score is.

To me he's almost at the old Sunday night crews (Thiesman, Maguire and Patrick) status where I actually watch the games with no volume. I admit that is mostly becuase I have 3 satellite feeds in my living room so by the time the 8:30 game rolls around my wife is pretty board with football. I leave 1 TV set up and watch the Sunday Night game, with no volume, and let here watch whatever she wants on the TV that is normally in the room. However, I do always assure her that she's doing me a favor becuase I don't have to listen to those 3 idiots.

Also, doesn't it seem like we got stuck with Cross like every week.

Randy works for the Pats. Does their TV for preseason games. And some other stuff for them too.
