I am interested to what our 30 year old DT's are offered on the open market.

I think you are under estimating the importance of keeping at least one of these DTs.
Losing both wouldn't do our defense any justice.
Starks is solid, I would bring him back for Grimes type of deal and then draft Easley and ease him in

They are important no doubt, and the D-line play will definatley take a hit on the field this year no doubt. The question is what is the proper business decision to make on aging players. Have to be real cautious. I think Starks will be looking for a little more than Grimes money, but we shall see how it plays out.

I hope we bring back either Starks or Soliai. I have been leaning towards Soliai but the more the situation plays out it doesn't seem like Soliai will be back.
I think we need to keep some stability on the Dline, losing both would create a learning curve for two new starters. We are going to have early issues on the Oline regardless of who we get, I don't want to see the trenches struggling on both sides of the ball.

Starks was arguably the most consistently dominant player on the team last year. I'd love to see him back.

Starks had games where he disappeared while Grimes made people disappear all season
Grimes was by far the most dominant player on this Dolphin team last season

This. Neither of our DT's were dominant last year. Both disappeared at times. They weren't bad, but they also weren't especially good in 2013. Considering they were supposed to be the strength of the defense, and we had invested a lot of money in the position last season, IMHO their play was disappointing.

At 30 he isn't going to get any better, and will certainly be in decline by the time his next contract comes up. I like Starks, but probably not for the 8-10mm he's going to ask for. That kind of money signs a top LT FA.

Should be interesting with DT draft class being fairly deep.

Nix, Jerrigan, Donald, Hageman, Ferguson, Johnson, Sutton, Uko, Jones, etc....

Same with OT, funny that teams that did not re-sign or tag their respective LT's are in perfect positions to aquire younger talent. Raiders will have choice of the Top 3 most likely and Ravens can easily trade up or sit and wait.

Pretty obvious statement there.

Of course 8-10mil signs a LT. That's ONE of our MANY needs. Letting both DTs go to replace them with cheaper, younger options in FA...(hmmm sound familiar ----->let's revisit our LB changes last season...how'd that work out?)

You guys claim to want to win NOW...so sure let's just plug in options and have our run defense suck even harder ---assuming we roll out with the same LBs as last year. Then what? you'll hear everyone saying we need a DT next year.

Simple. Just try to retain one.

I would just go with Joseph and call it a day ...

Younger and still getting better .... THAT would be a great signing!!

i think Odrick, Joseph and Francis would work out pretty good ... and we could draft another project ...

We can argue scheme fits and clogging holes etc, but IMO Odrick looked better than Starks last season and if we can get some FA's down and get Nix at 19 would be nice.

OK exactly so you keep Odrick and Starks..let big paul go. At 19 you wouldnt have to reach for a DT just go with OL or BPA for that matter.

DT is deep in this draft I'd resign starks and still draft one at 50..

Personally, I don't want that lazy bum with the bad attitude back.
