Ok why is everyone so down on randy?!?!?

"well he dropped 1000 balls"

the dude dropped 8 balls this year .... thats 1 drop every 2 games...... same amount as CC. really not that bad (many recievers dropped 10+ balls) those 8 drops are also the most he's ever dropped in his career....

he was top 7 in the NFL in TE yards and receptions....... for the second time in his career.

tight end is one of the least of our teams worries......:dolphins:

good positive post but every miami fan sees his talent and expects more from him. I loved his rookie season when he made a big catch and wiped the dirt off both of his shoulders. good times.

definatelly. that catch against the lions was awesome. what was it .. like 3rd and 14. fiedler throws an uncatchable ball but somehow randy makes an one handed catch. simply amazing

randy+healthy c-pepp / cam cameron offense = good times for all!

seriously i think randy is due for a career year.

I for one love having Randy on the Dolphins. It seems that no one takes losing harder than he does. Watch the comeback game vs. Buffalo last year after Sage throws that pick late in the game for what seemed to be the final nail in the coffin. Randy is going absolutely nuts in agony as he can't bare defeat.

As for his production, I agree with Dolfanattic. I'm pleased with the performance he puts out there, but I see a lot more potential then what he's currently doing.

The only way I would welcome a Randy McMichael trade is if we could get a low #1 from a team like Chicago or Cinncinati....those teams are desperate for a solid TE. But I highly doubt that they would ante up for RM.

Hopefully we get our OL & QB situation resolved. That will go a long way in developing RM & CC for that matter.

He is due $5 million this year. I truly doubt if he earns it. He will drop passes and he will fumble close to the goal line by trying to do too much...as he always does.

Is it just me, or did McMike look like a slow bowl of jelly last year? Probably tried to gain too much too soon for his blocking duties. Maybe he could shed 20-30 lbs. and return to his rookie glory days. Uh oh! I'm becoming an "apologist".

Great call, Jason. He didn't seem to be able to chip, shred and catch... maybe the ball was getting to him before he turned around....maybe he didn't get turned around fast enough. A great TE would make his move, separate and get open. He wasn't open on the outside and was always in heavy traffic when he turned in. maybe he needs to get stronger in the legs and upper body so he can make the moves. You could blame the OLine, Harringtons quick release, but however you look at it, it didn't happen. Hopefully Cam will make it work with better blocking and play calling so McMike can look like his old self. With that contract, something has to happen. We have quite a few guys and someone must step up.

Which is why we need to upgrade BOTH TE and WR. I'm sorry, but watch the winning teams and you just don't see half as many drops. The drops you do see are usually from a bad throw. RM and CC drop easy throws at their numbers and usually on a 3rd down or in the endzone.

8 dropped balls?! Sure seemed a lot more than that. There are some drops not being counted. Randy made a few good plays last year as duly noted in this thread.

But, the guy dropped big time catches that could have been momentum changers. It sure did seem like Mc Mike's drops were glaring and untimely on 3rd down. He didn't really look slow last year to me. The annoying thing is he was getting separation and there were plays to be had. It just wasn't meant to be for him. We need a turnaround from him this year. But, I would not be surprised if a TE is sought after in mid to late rounds as additional option to Mc Mike and Peele.

Not a chance IMO. Too many other needs.

As for McMike, Cam will utilize him properly. To the point where both Chambers and R. Brown will benefit. Those three players alone will benefit each other with Cam's balanced attack, something we haven't seen in a while.

Think about it, if we can get McMike to draw attention, more than usual, our whole offense prospers. TE is such a key position, and I believe Cam will make the most of McMikes undoubtful talent.

Its not the number of balls he dropped as it was as much as they were drive stopping drops. And remember, 2 of those drops were passes thrown to Randy which he then tipped and were intercepted..Joey got the short end of the scrotum pole on those ones. Also, he is becoming more disappointing year in and year out. From the start he was projected to be a great, pro bowl tight end but hasnt panned out as such yet...Another negative thing is he looks alot slower and more out of shape than in recent years. I want him to succeed as I think his potential is great and he could be one of the BEST TE in the league, he just needs to hit the weight room and get his head back in the game.
