here is a list, in my particular order , of what i would like to see the dolphins do at quarterback. im curious as to how you would rank them, and in the offseason well see who got what they wanted.
1.daunte culpepper
2-3.cleo lemon (to start)
3-2.vince young
4 or 5.matt leinart
5 or 4.steve mcnair (not sure about leinart yet)
6.phillip rivers
7. david carr
8.aaron brooks
9.jay cutler (i hate the names jay and aj)
10.patrick ramsey
11. billy volek
1.)
Matt Leinart: He's without question the best Q.B. in the '06 draft. He is out of our reach unless we lose 4 straight (something I DO NOT EVER want to do), end up in the top 6-8 of the draft AND trade our 1st and 3rd's in '06 and our 1st in '07 to move up and get him....something I'm VERY in favour (trading the farm) of but it is unlikely.
2.)
Daunte Culpepper: He's unlikely to be available. He'll renegotiate his deal to stay in Minnesota. He's also injured....VERY injured. No one knows what kind of player he'll be when, and if he comes back at 100%.
3.)
Steve McNair: He's not a free agent...yet. He will be available when the Titans don't give him his roster bonus. I'd be for signing him....only to a 2 year deal in the 3 million a year range and ONLY to be a caretaker for a young Q.B.
4.)
Jay Cutler: Everything I've read I like. We need a veteran if we draft him though. Drafting Cutler and signing McNair would be a good option for this team for right now and the future.
Those are the only one's I want fromyour list. All the other guys have issues:
Cleo Lemon: If he is our starter next year I think we are in BIG trouble.
Vince Young: I know what I see...and I don't like what I see. The guy is not an NFL Q.B. in my opinion. He has great numbers and all the hype but I just don't see what the fuss is all about. Everytime the guy throws a pass it is to a wide open reciever.
I've never seen him come to the line, change a play, drop back, see his first guy covered, check down and throw to a second reciever.
He drops back, looks at his first option and if the guy is covered he runs...in the NFL that will get him killed and get your coach and front office fired.
Plus, I HATE run first Q.B.'s. Gimme a pocket passer.
Phil Rivers: I'm not willing to give up a first for him. IFFFF the Chargers want to swing a deal similiar to the one that brought Hasselbeck to Seattle (swap spots in the first round and we throw in a 3-5th round pick) then I'd think about it.
Does Rivers have the arm strength to play in Linehan's offense?
David Carr: He has a good arm but something bothers me about him. He's not leaving Houston anyway.
Aaron Brooks: Never....NEVER! The guy is terrible. He makes awful decisions, holds the ball to long and has ZERO leadership skills. I'd rather bring Feeley back.
Pat Ramsey: See Aaron Brooks.
Billy Volek: The Titans won't let him go unless they are blown away by a trade offer AND they draft a young Q.B. I'm would'nt give them a third for Volek so no....no Volek.
