If Sean Payton wanted to be a coaching free agent after this year, I'm told the #Saints would be inclined to let him out of his contract.

Very interesting development. Talk about a coach that will be in demand especially with all of these openings.

No thank you. Drew Brees made him. And I don't want a coach that has already won a SB. History has proven that the quest to get your first one is the number one motivator. Give me a guy that's a good leader and knows the game and is hungry. Unless you're offering up BB, thanks but no thanks.

Great offensive mind and leader. Intellectual advantage. I cannot help to think that Tennessee or Indy would be most attractive.

I am currently inclined to wait until the current season is over to determine If i want to keep Campbell here before I move on to who else is or isn't going to be on the market...

maybe. I don't know if he's anything without lucking into DB.

What coach is good without a good QB?
well, parcels won w Phil slimms and Jeff hosenfeffer. Living in northern NJ I had to watch a lot of big blue - Simms stunk don't let the revisionists tell you different. Even Shula got us to a SB w David Woodley. Then there was Theisman, Doug Williams, mark totally rypien, Trent dilfer, brad Johnson etc. so you can win w average QBs and I think Tannny is better than all the aforementioned guys.

The bigger issue for me is the hunger thing - guys w rings don't win w new teams.

Longtime ago are your examples.

I am looking for a leader that the team will respect. Plus, how does a prospect coach give an intellectual advantage?

we don't know enough about whether Campbell can give an intellectual advantage but he's clearly more creative than soprano (similar philopshy) and better than Cam Cameron and Joe Vagina Philbin (considered intellectual guys). DC ball is time tested and will always give you a chance to win. If you have a Brady or Brees or manning then go ahead and dare to be different. You have that luxury. Right now we don't and our QB benefits from DCs style.

All that said, I don't like the fact Payton has his ring, gets the big paycheck etc. In the history of the NFL, this is one experiment that has never worked.

The Colts, Titans and Giants would all be more attractive than Miami.
i guess the belief is that those QBs are better / he would have an easier time winning. The media up here were ripping him when this occurred:

I don't think his career outside of NO was so good:

During the 2002 season, after several poor showings by the Giants' offense, Payton's role in play-calling was taken over by then head coach Jim Fassel. Under Fassel the offense improved and propelled the team to a wild-card playoff berth. While Payton was still ostensibly in charge of the offense, his role in the team was clearly diminished and had he not been hired away by the Dallas Cowboys, he likely would have been fired.

I doubt the Giants would write him a big check.

No thanks. Not interested. And for a few reasons that Royal Shank pointed out. Mainly, HC's that have won SB's with previous organizations don't pan out with other teams. Other reasons include his off the field issues/rumors and that he not only knew about BountyGate but did nothing to stop it despite having this knowledge.

I don't know how motivated he'd be. Certainly will have more appealing choices than this team. Stick with Campbell. Support Campbell.

I am pulling for Campbell personally, but he needs to prove a lot more before I give him to give the keys for the next four years.

Now that the allure of Campbell has faded let's see if he can pull off the X's and O's to make this team play to their potential. I'm rooting for him!
