Rather have Porter or Adalias Thomas?

Who would you rather have if we had the choice in this FA period, JOEY PORTER or ADALIAS THOMAS???

Well, the Pittsburgh Tribune report for Porter is 5-years/$24 million.

Didn't Adalius get something like $6-7 million per year?

They're both the same age, so I'd definitely go with Porter.

It's Porter and it's a no brainer. I believe they are the same age, Porter has been a perenial pro bowler, is a great passionate leader of a perenial tough Steelers defense, and his productivity is as good as most any pass rushing linebacker in this league. Joey Porter is the man.

Well... Thomas has incredible physical skills and is younger, but Porter is still quite athletic for his age and has proven that he is a difference maker. Plus I think Porter has more of a hard-nosed attitude...

I'd take Porter!
:dolphins:

EDIT: Are they the same age?! Then definately Porter, no question.

Porter is more suited for this team and is MUCH cheaper. A little bit older, but he fits the team better.

I'll take Porter, I think he can get 10+ sacks on this team.

Porter IMO.

The guy is so vocal... i despized him when he was a steeler. But i will love him if hes a fin.

btw Insomnia, nice sig. Slug is incredible

From the Patriots view definitely Thomas. He is more versatile and Belichick will know how to use him.
We lack a pass rush force at OLB, so Porter would be the better fit for us. So as a Dolfan I would want Porter... but only if I had to take one of these two.

Well, considering the fact that Porter is available and Thomas isn't....I'm going with Porter. Seriously, I think Porter is more of a true linebacker than Thomas. Thomas is more a LB/DE player, similar to JT. JT is older but better, though.

Thomas was the better player LAST YEAR, Porter has been BY FAR the better player throughout his career. Thomas got $22 mil in guaranteed money, Porter by the report is getting $12 mil. You guys are making NE look silly w/ this deal and w/ getting the hesit you got for Wes Welker.

Look at the history of Baltimore defensive players after they leave Baltimore and that will answer your question.

I've been plain since well before Miami first sniffed at Joey Porter, and New England first sniffed at Adalius Thomas...that Porter is the superior player.

They are the same age. Porter has been in the league 2 years longer (actually one year but an additional year Adalius spent mostly on the bench), however, Porter only made the transition to defense in his final 2 years of college while Adalius played LB and DE the whole time.

Porter was actually an H-Back for his first two years of college before moving to defense.

So where others might try to say that Porter's got more tread on the tires, I haven't bought that argument from the beginning because in actuality Thomas has been playing D actually one more year than Porter, they are both the same age, and both have clean injury histories.

Thomas is much more versatile, but Porter's better as a pass rusher and I believe he's the more premium player. With him on the opposite side of Jason Taylor, Miami's pass rush should benefit tremendously. The worry now has to be maintaining a good run defense, and we have to get Keith Traylor back into the fold in order to get that to happen. We also have to decide whether Fred Evans can handle an increased workload, or whether we need to look at that area in the draft. I like Alan Branch (#9), Paul Soliai (#39, #60, #70), Tank Tyler (#39), and Justin Harrell (#39, #60) as depth at that spot.

What about the reports that Porter has lost a step, and Pittsburgh is making a well-timed decision to let him go?
