I think this matchup will be the chief determiner of the outcome of the game. I ordinarily think Samson does a decent job, but Ngata has had a dominant year on the Ravens DL and is one of those monster pocket pushers Samson struggles with.

Sparano may opt to utilize the bigger Al Johnson at center if Ngata blows up a few plays early on. The good news is that, unlike past years, I trust that we have a coaching staff that will anticipate this problem and gameplan around it.

This is one of those, need to improve in areas I was talking about for next year.. either Samson gets stronger this off season, which would be a waste since the guy is so talented, but we can't allow NT to push him into the QB, it disrupts the O..and causes sacks...or hurried throws..

Big Mismatch There. Samson Need To Bring His "a " Game Sunday .

IIRC, there were one or two plays where Ngata just blew threw Satele and slammed Ronnie in the backfield

Ngata creates problems for everybody he faces. If you remember Satan tried moving up to get him, could not trade up and we were blessed Jason Allen instead (Thanks Satan). I am pretty sure that Sparano and company has already gameplanned for this difficulty.

The matchup is especially difficult when you consider that we do not have a quarterback who is especially nifty to roll out of the pocket on designed plays.

Ngata is great but his main job is not to passrush us. He is there to protect his linebackers so they can make plays. The nose tackle basically heads for the direction of the play by taking on either the leftguard/center or rightguard/center.

So the real match up for our offensive line is against how well we block the linebackers.

**** it, maybe samson will do a bigass samoan war chant before the game, get himself all fired up, and end up playing lights out. OPTIMISM GUYS!!!

thats cool and all but i think NGATA is samoan too... so he might know a few chants himself! lol

This just struck me as really funny for some reason.

Any time someone calls Saban by his true name is always good times. Thanks!

That may be true, but it will be tough to pick up the line backers if Haloti is tying up two of your linemen.
