Still Perfect.. and You're Not.
I love Florida. Being from Baltimore I don't reall experience great weather but Florida is awesome. Football season is here and the Dolphins held their first public training camp so I took a week's vacation and plan to go to camp as often as I can. I came away from this practice very impressed with some players. Let's roll......
* Patrick Turner was the guy who stood out to me. He looks so tall and runs better routes than anyone on the team. The kid is so polished and his hands are spectacular. He simply catches everything thrown his way. He looked like he has been starting in this league for a decade. When we selected him Todd McShay and Mel Kiper thought this was a terrible pick but I think he could be the most effective rookie receiver in the league.
* Shawn Murphy didn't crack the lineup as a rookie and many already considered him a bust but I can tell you what I saw out of Murphy today impressed me far more than what I saw at of Donald Thomas last year. Murphy looked quick and strong and this guy proved why he was considered a major sleeper in the 2008 NFL Draft. Having Donald Thomas and Shawn Muphy fighting for this jo is great and healthy competition as I am starting to feel more comfortable with our OLINE depth.
*Damn Chad Henne can really zip the ball around. He looks to have a really live arm. I see Joe Flacco a lot in Baltimore and I can say Henne has the same type of arm.
* I read a ton of reports saying Pat White struggled with his accuracy during OTA's but noticed no such thing today. White is a special athlete and was very accurate for most of the day.
*Davone Bess looks even better than he did last year. This kid is as solid of a slot receiver as I have seen. Also, Ted Ginn Jr. is running with lazing speed and look much more comfortable. With Ginn, Bess, the surprising Patrick Turner, and Greg Camarillo coming back form injury our receiver core looks very good. It was suppossed to e a weak spot but Teddy Ginn looks determined, Turner looks dominant, Bess looks like Wes Welker, it's a great surprise.
*Paul Soliai looked to be in much better shape. He looked quick and strong. if this guy can turn the corner we could be in very good shape
*Eric Green worked as a starting corner ut it is early and Sean Smith and Vontae Davis are just tremendous athletes and even better footall players. They have the POTENTIAL to be better than Madison/Surtain. Sean Smith is a freak
*Matt Roth was on the sidelines ut didn't seem injured. I am investigating this now...
* I think Brandon London took notice that he needs a good camp to stick. He made one hell of a catch.
*I am starting to like Teddy Ginn more and more. God is he fast. They are putting him into some offensive wrinkles that included a pass. Ginn, a high school Quarterback, has a very good arm actually.
*Ronnie and Ricky haven't missed may days in the gym. Ronnie's arms a massive. Best one-two punch in the game
*Jake Long Autographed my Dolphins hat and Jake Long authentic jersey. I told him to keep kicking a$$ and he replied "Always."
* I am notcing improved technique in a lot of players game especially Ted Ginn, Jake Long, and Chad Henne.
Since today was Day One I don't have much but I can tell you that the confidence level is a lot different than last August. The players know they can compete and play with much more of a swagger. I will be here all week so try to follow me on twitter. I didn't tweet much today but I will write up summaries. Ask any questions you may have and I'll answer the best I can. I just bought a new camera for tomorrow. :rimshot:
