Which of this four things dont belong?

A. Buffalo
B. New York
C. New England
D. Miami

My guess is D.

Three teams in the northeast, and Miami? Come on. Geographically, it just doesnt make sense.

Okay, so everybody is going to argue about the "rivalries' with the Bills, Jets, and Pats. But I think they are a bit overrated. Nowadays, they just arent as exciting as they used to be. And Im sick of these New Yorkers filling up our stadium in home games.

I think this looks a little better..

AFC SOUTH
Tennessee
Jacksonville
Tampa Bay
Miami

Now this seems a little more exciting to me. Three Florida teams playing each other twice a year.

Take a look at our college teams. Anytime UM, FSU, or Florida are playing one another- its gonna be a big game. Why not do this on the pro level also?

Another thing good about this is that our players dont have to play in the snow at the end of the season (except maybe Tennessee). This could help eliminate our "December Swoon."

Its a no brainer to me. I know a lot of traditionalists will want to keep things the way they are, but its just seems like the rivialries we will develop will greatly eclipse our old foes.

What do you think?

AFC NORTH
Cincinatti
Pittsburgh
Baltimore
Cleveland

AFC SOUTH
Tennessee
Jacksonville
Tampa Bay
Miami

AFC East
New England
Buffalo
NY Jets
Indianapolis

AFC WEST
Denver
San Diego
Kansas City
Oakland

NFC SOUTH
Houston
Dallas
Atlanta
New Orleans

NFC NORTH
Chicago
Minnesota
Detroit
Green Bay

NFC EAST
NY Giants
Washington
Philidelphia
Carolina

NFC WEST
Seattle
St Louis
Arizona
San Francisco

(Hope I accounted for all the teams.):goof:

No way! keep it the way it is! I love being in the AFC east.

Why put all 3 teams from the same area in the same conference and division? There would be absolutely no variety in the games played in the area. Wht don't we put the Giants and Jets in the same division while we're at it? It would make scheduling at the Meadowlands easier.

Keep it the way it is. I enjoy having the Fins play the Jets, Bills and New England. Considering the number of people who have moved to Florida from the Northeast it makes the home games alot of fun. And there is the other thing called "TRADITION".

Why not?

Cleveland and Cincinatti are both in Ohio.

Buffalo and the Jets are both New York teams.

And Geographically, we are the most displaced team there is. The only ones that come even close are Dallas and Indy in their divisions.

Cleveland and Cincy are exeptions. Besides, they are in a part of the country that has quite a few NFL teams within 500 miles or so. I think the fact that we play in the Northeast is kind of exciting. What fun would it be to have all the sunshine teams in the same division with the same weather? It's neat for each team to have true home field advantages.

Home field advantage comes from the crowd and the fans. And it isnt like we arent going to play any other teams. We would still be in the AFC, and would have to play teams from other locations.

I think you're idea makes alot of sense. Probably makes more sense to have Atlanta (or maybe New Orleans) in there rather than Tennessee, just by virtue of geography.
Like you, I'd rather see NFL divisions actually be regional groupings. For a long time, Tampa bay was playing in the NFC central (really north). but one question, why move Indianapolis back to the AFC east? Why not plug in Philadelphia?

Why not go all the freaking way and replace Tennessee with Atlanta? :shakeno:

The conferences aren't and shouldn't be determined totally by geography. Miami is close enough to all its rivals for things to make sense, and history is best served with them in the East. That's why the Cowboys are in the NFC East.

While re-alignment would help rivalries between teams that are very close, I think it ruins established rivalries. I think if a team is removed from Afc East, it should be the Bills they could be put in the North, and Baltimore could be put in the East. That makes sense from a location standpoint, but I would hate to see it happen.

I will credit the OP with one thing -- the conference proposed doesn't really favor Miami, so this clearly isn't being proposed to get Miami into the playoffs easily. In that regard, it's a lot better than some plan to put Miami in a conference with Detroit, Houston, and Arizona.

Oh, and like Indianapolis is really in the eastern part of the country?

Come on, the folks in Dallas would be outraged if they had to watch the Boys play Arizona and New Orleans twice a year instead of Washington and the Giants. The NFL doesn't want to put two of the premiere teams (NE/PHI) in one division, because then they aren't visiting as many cities each year. And you're crazy if you're tired of Fins-Jets/Pats/Bills. Those games are so much more meaningful than, oh, Fins-Titans.

there's only a couple of divisional rivalries worth keeping around. Anything in the NFC north (Chicago vs. Green Bay especially) is great. Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland is classic (at least where I live). These could stick around.
The one great one that would be disrupted in Miami vs. Jets, that one has made for some great MNF games over the years

The one clear advantage to redistricting (at least the way I did it) is that your team won't usually have to play a division game in another time zone.
That's never really been an issue with us east coasters, but someone in California has to start watching at 10am (1 pm EST kickoff) if the 49ers are away at New York or something. That must suck. At least the division games can be at a decent hour to have a beer this way.
