Let's assume that these reports of Tannehill being gone is accurate, who might the Dolphins bring in for 2019?

I believe 2020 is the year we truly rebuild and next year is simply a suck-for-high-draft pick year as we're going to have a lot of dead money and this year's upcoming QB draft class is not too appealing. With that being said, who do we go with in 2019? Imagine Tua or Fromm in 2020 or even Herbert if he stays in school for one more year. Yes please.

-Brock Osweiler/David Fales - Both free agents but perhaps we sign one/both to lead this team to misery and a top spot in 2020 draft to eventually sign Tua. We would easily have the least-talented QB in the AFC East giving us a great opportunity to have a top 3 pick in the 2020 draft. I'd actually be okay with this. Probably nets us 1-3 wins.

-Joe Flacco - This is likely a top target to bring in if the front office is retained and they're desperately looking for an option to try and win now. I don't see this ending any better than this year. Probably nets us 6-8 wins.

-Tyrod Taylor - This guy probably wants out of Cleveland. Slight upgrade over Osweiler, probably nets us 5-7 wins.

-Cam Newton -Completely throwing this out there as pure speculation. Perhaps throwing high draft picks at Panthers could get them to give up Newton. This would be somewhat of a risk as he has an injury to his throwing shoulder that should require surgery. Rivera would be on the hot seat so drafting a QB early in the draft would buy him more time. This could net us 8-11 wins but cant truly see this happening, especially with Cam's salary.

-Eli Manning - No, just no. Pure 1 year stopgap that does nothing for this team as he may actually lead us to 5-7 wins which keeps us riding mediocrity.

-Nick Foles - This guy is going to make money next year. I see him as a system QB and I don't want any part of him.

-Andy Dalton - Tannehill 2.0. No thanks. He probably stays in Cinci anyway.

-Blake Bortles- Jags will be done with this dud. Stay away.

-Teddy Bridgewater - Intriguing guy. This falls into the Joe Flacco discussion. Bring in the guy if the front office is retained and they're trying to win now.

-Jameis Winston - Winston in South Beach would not go well. Stay way from this turnover machine.

-Derek Carr - Gruden looks to be cleaning house and will be able to get his guy early in the draft. Carr might be an interesting option but it's kind of reaching as although he may be an upgrade of Tannehill, it probably isn't by much.

All in all, if Tannehill is truly gone, 2019 looks to be a horrible season for the Dolphins as there isn't much out there. Not to mention, if the Dolphins FO did like in the draft, they wont be able to get above Bucs, Jags, Raiders, Giants, Redskins.. There are just too many teams desperate for a QB.

I'd "rent" Bridgewater for the year and see what he's capable of. If he's good, great, sign him longterm. If he sucks, no big deal, we signed him for 1 year.

Drew Brees being a free agent is not your typical year. Usually there is never a good year to pursue free agent QBs.

I hear you but we need to pick up someone. I don't believe we would have even one QB on our roster if they get rid of Tannehill before June 1st cuts

Osweiler/Fales...moreso Fales. I don't want Ostweiler coming to his senses. If we are going to tank...tank.

As I posted in another thread, Joe is 33 Teddy is 26.

My concern with Teddy is that he kind of seems like the QB that can lead a team to 8 or 9 wins based on the little we have seen from him. Do we really want another 8 win season?! At that point, I'd rather just try and develop Fales and at the same time, suck for 2020 where we can finally draft a game-changing QB.

None of the above. Draft a QB or do nothing. We don’t need any retreads or new contracts. The goal is to upgrade, not make a lateral move or worse. It’s Fales or a rookie. I don’t get the hype around Tua...that kid is going to bust hard.

If they can't get Lock in the draft then just roll with Tann and Falk in 2019. Then go all in on QB in 2020. Plus article says Tann won't be here after the 2019 season. Contract is better than most QBs big contracts. Falk is cheap. Roll with them unless u get Lock.

Bet it’s bridgewater unless Miami low balls
You’re probably right, but he wasn’t lighting it up before the injury and a lot of time has passed with no real example of what he is still capable of. Do we really want another QB contract for a retread?

Probably be a 2 year but you’d have to gtee him the starting gig in 19 otherwise why would he come here.

Bet he wants to come home but you gonna have to make it worth it for him. So think $18 mil I’d say in this market. Maybe 2 years $35 mil $25 mil guaranteed.

You could easily draft a qb in the next 2 years with that on the rookie wage scale and even top 10 get away with a like $5 mil cap hit.

It’s pretty easy actually. You are gonna eat some Tannehill money unless you can trade him but it is what it is.

When you cut him someone will pounce im sure and on the cheap. Washington makes a lot of sense given Alex Smith’s injury.
