Realistically, WHAT do you expect?

OK, so it’s the first year with RM orchestrating the draft unobstructed by “others.â€Â

So what’s the deal? Do you expect him to hit a number of home runs? Do you expect him to move around a lot in the draft? Does he have your vote as a top-tier personnel guy? Do you expect him to “give up the farm†for a single player, such as Quinn? Bottom line, is RM the guy who builds our roster into a champion?

Also, for you draft mavens, what’s the buzz around the league regarding our scouting? Do we have the right guys in place to be successful? Or are we viewed as a team lacking top-flight scouts?
 
I doubt he's worked hard to finally get this team some picks only to give them all up for a QB who cant beat a top 25 team..

I will be confident in whoever we select because Mueller's track record speaks for itself.
 
i expect alot of dissapointed fans after round 1 thats for sure......... i have a gut feeling people will be calling for his head come the end of April... in reality.... i'm very confident we'll have a very solid draft with as much input as our 2005 class had.

Yea, I agree. I’m definitely NOT for trading up because of the cost, but if Quinn falls to #9 it would be a real gift to us (perhaps the universe owes us one by now)!

As far as Randy’s track record, I hope his best years start right now!

How I long for the days of Joe Thomas and Bobby Betherd! For those of you who remember, those GM’s made the glory days possible (eventually chased off by the grumpy old man --- “JRâ€Â)!

Hope springs eternal, and I feel we’re finally heading in the right direction, but the proof will be demonstrated on the field. As long as we get younger, bigger and faster, and really NASTY I’ll be happy with step #1.
 
I think that IF Quinn could be had by trading up, they'd do it...I think both Cam-Mul want a "face" for the franchise. Quinn is probably the most NFL ready guy, like Leinart was in last year's draft. That would bode well for Miami...give CPep a chance to hold the reigns for half the season, give the OL time to gel and then throw him in....

I also think that they are not opposed to trading down, in fact I think they'd rather trade up or trade down than stay at #9. At 9, we have to take BPA and that player may not be a need. Lower in the round (13-20) we can reach a little with less to lose. To move up, (for Quinn) would probably only require our 3rd or perhaps the #60 and would still allow them to fill some need spots.

RM is the first real GM we've had since those early days of the 70's...I have never liked the coach/GM role anyway. It'll be a fun day, no matter what. I don't think we will be able to complain no matter which way they go...
 
One thing is for sure after recent drafts excluding the picks from last year, Miami fans are gun shy and paranoid about drafts. I bet Mueller has studied past Dolphin drafts and he knows what this team and its fan base have been through with drafts. IMO he really wants to make a statement with this draft.
 
i could see quinn dropping to the number 6 spot in many reasonable senerios, and i think that he would trade down to the sixth pot with washington to get quinn. all we would have to give up is a third. redskins probably will take that trade because they only have three draft picks this year. the draft chart would be pretty even too, with us giving our 1, and thrid fo rthere first. i would definately do it. if quinn could sit a year behind green or culpepper, which is the probable situation, then he will be a good QB when he is call upon to start. it looks like green is going to the browns cuz they are willing to give up more than the dolphins are willing to do, so culpepper looks like our guy this year.

From the way Cam and Mueller have taken this draft, I expect us to do a pretty good job or better in the draft.

I get a feeling these guys have a plan, while before we were hoping for certain players and if we lost them, instead of sticking to a plan on what to get, we just went with who we thought bpa.

I believe Miami wants to get a QB in the Draft, and more specifically Quinn, but if they are not able to get him, they will not go with the next best player, instead they will stick to their plan, and take a better player at a position they hoped to later in the draft, while taking the QB in the 2nd or 3rd.

Wash may want more than just flipping 1st's and our 3rd. But I guess this is one trade up possibility I'd be OK with.

I just hate to see us lose picks when we need a big influx of youth/talent.
 
I'm sure they have contengencies for both moving up, down and staying at #9. That's where all the excitement will be for most fans looking for "big" name draftees. Beyond that, I'm guessing some people will be scratching their heads asking, who? They won't probably know enough about the players to say for sure if it was a good draft or not (in their opinion). For those who know more about some of the lesser know guys, they are going to say that they are solid picks that could pay off big-time down the road. Probably will be fairly positive on the later picks too. I see them getting the best value out of the picks we have, rather than going with the big name or school they came from. And we'll all will have to wait a year or so to see if it was truly a good or bad draft.

It will never happen but I hope RM trades up from the 3rd round into another 2nd round pick. Maybe even another 3rd. His draft history is practically stellar in the first two rounds, then pretty abyssmal from that point on. I'm not at all excited about having 4 (5 if not for lazyboy) picks in rounds 6-7. Again, this is just based on RM's draft history. I know, I know, we may find a diamond in the rough deep into day two, but I don't think he has yet, has he? I'm tempted to give the rest away for another pick or two on the first day. Again, based on his draft history.
 
When i hear that Quinn is the most "ready" NFL QB in the Draft i will take that with a pinch of salt. No-body is a sure fire hit especially when it comes to QB's who have to lead an Offense and get it done. If we dont get Quinn and maybe get Stanton and find out hes the next Romo i will be happy. I think alot of fans expect our next QB to start straight away which isnt going to happen. Im hoping Culpep makes it back and we get a solid Rookie backup with potential. Lemon must get some reps in pre-season IMO to see if he can light it up. Weve got Question marks across the board at QB and this draft and pre-season i want to see answers and not question marks by season start.
 
Out of curiosity when was the last time we traded up or down with our 1st pick? anybody got that answer at hand?

I am pretty much satisfied with the direction our FO is headed in. I have faith in their handling of the draft and hope my optimism is right. I dont expect they will give away the farm for anyone though. I expect they will make sound unbiased professional opinions when evaluating these guys. I dont see them as getting caught into that trap like some have done.
