Reality Check: Is Berlin a diamond in the rough?

man oh man oh man... Didnt you people watch him in college.. He is a shot gun QB...he cannot do anything else. He either throws from the shot gun or he bails and trys to scramble. He as a good arm, but lets face it he is fiedler without the pointy ears.
I wanted him and fiedler to head of the penninsula in the first boat that came by, apparently brock didnt get my message. Its nice to see him doing well against college scrubs...

He never quite developed at UM...wasn't a "winner" type...unlike Dorsey, for instance. But, I guess you could say that Dorsey's best WRs were Reggie Wayne, Santana Moss, Jeremy Shockey, and Andre Johnson while Berlin's best guys were Roscoe Parrish and Kellen Winslow. Also Dorsey had Willis McGahee in the backfield while Brock had Frank Gore and Jared Payton.

I know Kellen is great but collectively Roscoe and Kellen don't compare to the guys Dorsey got to throw to. I'm starting to think that maybe...just maybe Brock got a raw deal with my beloved Canes. This is hard for me to see him so obviously succeeding as a pro since I really hated the guy as a Cane. Gosh, maybe I shouldn't have hated him so much.

Still, he tosses picks at very inopportune moments...

dorsey also had portis. gore coulda been even better, but injuries killed him.

Yeah, I mean basically Dorsey had so many good people around him its no wonder he put together such a great record without much talent in his arm.

Portis, McGahee, Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Santana Moss, Jeremy Shockey, I mean jeezum. God maybe Berlin DID get a raw deal.

I'm gonna be honest...when we signed Berlin I laughed and thought "camp fodder".

That being said...he has played well in our 2 scrimmages...he has earned the right to play a little. This is where the extra pre-season game could come in handy.

I'm NOT saying the guy is a starter by any stretch of the imagination....but I think he deserves a chance to play with at least the 2nd teamers...maybe he has something.

plus dorsey had a d full of stars, reed, buchannon, rumph (he's not that great in the pro's thou), vilma, williams, and then an all star d line. berlin had one year of vilma and williams, and then after that only rolle. everyone else was good, but not a stand out star.
