Really, this is how they choose a coach?

im tired of nice guys. so what if zimmer was an ***
shula was an ***
belichick is an ***
parcells was an ***
ditka was an ***
cowher was an ***
coughlin is an ***
gruden was an ***
i could go on but i think you get the picture. we need a take no **** coach not another yes man. time for a change.

this, since when does being an *** eliminate you from a head coaching job in the NFL. this softball **** is getting old, yea let's just take which ****bag coach the wind blows our way

I'm coming down for an annual visit to see them play regardless of who the coaching staff is. Though who stay away b/c they think the coaches stink will be missing out IMO.

What people fail to realize...the Coaching name dosent fill the stadium...a "high powered offense" dosent fill a stadium...WINNING fills a stadium...point blank period...you hit the nail on the head with this comment...None of us know how any of the HC candidate are going to pan out...if we did, trust me we wouldnt be here pissing and moaning on a message board...and to the people that keep pandering for Billick...um...I guess Ross is the ONLY moron not interviewing him since you know...He has a LONG line of potential suitors banging on his door trying to throw 80 virgins and a billion dollars a year at him to coach their team...

a "source" said zimmer "might have" been too blunt and honest? holy horsecr@p what a non-story! and a 5 page thread bashing the FO follows. really?

It's not quite the issue Rex Ryan had, but for a LONG time Rex was not given a chance (even by the Ravens, when you had Rey Lewis, Ed Reed, and Terrell Suggs are BEGGING for him to be a head coach) because Ozzie Newsome didn't feel Rex's personality would really work when trying to run an entire team's operation.

This will yet turn out to be the case. Ozzie knew.

I sometimes wonder why I root for this team. They've disappointed me more times than I can count

I don't know why people are so pissed off at Ross for not getting Zimmer. How long has Zimmer been around for? How many times has he been interviewed for a HC job? How many times has he been a HC? Maybe people in the football world just don't think he is cut out to be a Head coach. The Dolphins aren't the first to shy away from Zimmer, and I am sure they wont be the last. So I guess Ross is as dumb as the rest of the owners that didn't hand their franchise over to him.

Ross and Ireland must be very insecure people. Billick and now Zimmer, two people who are secure and confident in their beliefs, but those types of people must be very threatening to the acorn hunter and droopy dawg.

It is not unreasonable for Ireland to pick a personality where the two of them can be successful. I view this as a good development. Ireland will be married to our next coach. Ireland will be responsible for choosing the coach and for talent acquisition and management. He WILL BE judged by his choices! I wish him luck and success. That would mean my beloved Dolphins are doing well. If not, then it is time to hire a GM to clean house.

The question is can Zimmer be a good HC, being blunt doesn't make you good at anything, could Zimmer be blunt and wrong?
Some Fin fans just hate this team, call the owner a clown etc etc etc. But last year Ross went after the right coach and he has a vision for the organization a GM and a HC not an HC that controlls the whole enchilada, so now he's trying to find the right fit.
If the GM does a bad job he can get rid of him and not blow up the org. Same applies to the HC.
Parcells the overpaid GURU **** this team up and now Ross is actually trying to fix it and ofcourse the reporting is really credible, we all know that.
Lets see who offers zimmer a HC job.

You people kill me. The whole thing is not about being blunt, it is about a guy that has the integrity to say that something is wrong when it is clear that it is and the fact that Ross and Ireland want nothing to do with a guy that is not going to be a "yes" man that will follow their every whim.

The Jets have a outspoken Coach, and look how that circus is coming along.

Becareful what you bring in.

You can have the integrity to say something, still doesn't make that opinion right.

Your hate for this FO and Owner cloud everything when it comes to this team.

None of you were at the interview and the head coach needs to be able to have a positive relationship with the GM and owner. If they think Zimmer is an ***, how can you blame them for eliminating him from the search?

And you don't know what "blunt" means anyway. Maybe he was very blunt on things he really didn't understand in the organization, and management felt we had a preconceived notion of things that would be hard for him to put aside and look at the real problems. Hey if they don't like the guy, they don't like the guy. The last thing we need is some guy they don't like. Everyone assumes he was correct with his bluntness. And if you are right, there is a good way to communicate it and a bad way. If the guy can't interview, he might be the wrong guy. Just saying.

I don't buy this analogy because Ross has never hired a coach before and Ireland has never selected one for him. Parcells and Wayne gave us Tony.

You missed the point, it has nothing to do with the fact that Ross has never hired a coach before. I wasn't talking about his history in that sense. I'm talking about decisions that have been made while Ross and Ireland have been here.
