I see a lot of speculation on the reason for Jaylen Ramsey trade. Grier said Ramsey did not ask for the Trade and it's not because of money/business reasons for the Trade. I believe the reason is culture issue with Ramsey. From what I read after our season ended and the messages that Ramsey and Tyreek Hill were posting, it seemed clear that they were the biggest reasons for our culture issues - late to meetings, etc. Miami is undergoing a youth movement similar to Buffalo Bills last year and superstar veterans like Hill and Ramsey would undermine the culture growth/improvements.

It seems that they simply disagree on something fundamental. Whether it’s culture or scheme or something else, who knows at this point.

My assumption is Ramsey doesn’t like McDaniel, but I’ve wondered that since Hard Knocks. Maybe he’s mad at McDaniel for not holding people accountable, and maybe he doesn’t like McDaniel for trying to hold him accountable. Fascinating situation

My guess is that what the Dolphins are asking Ramsey to due schematically (and where the team is at competitively) just isn't exactly what's best for Ramsey the DB.

I think elite players want to win more than anything else. Hill's explosion at the end of the NYJ game last year was pure frustration IMHO...a down year, playing through injury, your QB in/out of the lineup, eliminated from any real shot at contention pretty early.

I find that totally understandable considering that Hill spent 3 years in Miami watching his former team go to 3 straight Super Bowls while dealing with tons of setbacks on his new team: defensive injuries, OL injuries, QB concussions, etc.

I suspect that Ramsey is in a slightly different situation where what the Dolphins need out of their best CB just isn't what's best for Ramsey the player. I'd bet he simply doesn't want to get stuck plugging a hole (at his age) on a team that's perceived as rebuilding.

He's not capable of doing all the heavy lifting and needs to be supported by young, athletic players rather than being the elite player himself. He's at an age where his football IQ needs to be what he's selling.

In Miami, the lack of overall CB talent forces Ramsey to plug a hole, stuck on the boundary where he occasionally gets exposed...which I'm sure he probably hates.

I suspect Ramsey will end up somewhere he thinks he can reach the Super Bowl and where the talent around him offsets his age allowing him to be a more versatile player, rather than merely an aging boundary guy increasingly at risk of being exposed.

Why did Grier rework Ramsey's contract and give him an extension?

There is a time and place to sign a player like Ramsey or Hill - when the team is close to winning it all. We were not then, are not now, and are paying the price. I am not sure it's possible with Grier at the helm, but the team should have been built through the draft, and when we have a strong core - especially at the OL and DL -, supplement with a high-caliber free agent at a key position.

He'll end up wherever we're getting the best deal for him.

First off Grier lied... about damn near everything yesterday. Ramsey obviously asked for a trade.

Rumors are abundant for the reason why, he hates Weaver, he doesn't believe in Tua, he wants to play for a contender; are the most popular.

Honestly, I never really felt Ramsey was “as advertised” anyway.

However, now we’re about to have a double gaping hole at corner. :bobdole: So much for legit help on the O-line From the draft … this’ll be straight secondary with our early picks.

We lost Armstead and Campbell recently. Maybe Grier and MM went to Ramsey and asked for him to either knock off the missed meetings or just simply to take on more of a leadership role with those guys gone. No matter how you slice this, Mike doesn't come out looking too good.

I believe if we trade Ramsey Grier will be in the books for 10’s of millions of dollars for 3 corners that are not Miami dolohins

Ramsey is a merc. He forced his way out of Jacksonville and the Rams. Now he’s doing it to Miami.

Grier built a team around trades and FA mercs. Let our homegrown players like Robert Jones, Wilkins, AVG, and Brandon Jones go.

Can’t build team culture with guys that aren’t all in organizationally.
