If we must rebuild thats ok but lets start with Jeff Irelands Job???

I think that Miami is in a rebuilding phase, but are afraid to just come out and say it. Philbin wants a more talented team built through the draft. We need to upgrade the secondary and the o-line among other positions just to start the process. Yes, they were intending to get a franchise QB this year. Unfortunately, a few QBs decided to stay in school, and the team screwed itself by winning just enough games to miss out on the top 2 QBs this year. There are no franchise QBs available to us in the 1st round this year, so they're probably going to draft other positions and wait until next year for a QB. I have no problem with Miami looking to rebuild the team; they haven't exactly been very good lately, have they? I only hope that Philbin is a better judge of QB talent and potential than what we've had in the past.

All of the fans who are going crazy over these moves are just impatient and want to win now. Miami was far from just being a franchise QB away from the playoffs. We have too many starters that would be back-ups on more talented teams. I agree with waiting on the QB position until 2013 when we can hopefully have a high enough pick to draft a top QB. Garrard, Moore, and ? should be good enough to get us through the next season while Philbin rebuilds. (I believe that Garrard is the most talented QB on the team and will start.) Between low cost free agent signings and the release of veterans who won't fit Philbin's plans, Miami should be in great shape salary cap wise next year. If they had signed Manning, Flynn, or Smith to a huge contract it would have hurt the team in the long run, since none of them are IMO the future of this franchise. I want them to improve the roster, and I'll look forward to them being competitive next year. I've waited this long, another year won't matter.

Like I said in order for someone to rebuild something they have to build it first.

This.

You don't rebuild from 20-28 in 3 years. That's supposed to be part of the plan. The Colts are rebuilding. They've had success in the past and are only now blowing it all up.

Exactly.........how is it possible to rebuild something that has never been built. We are and have been a vacant lot for too many years. Yesterday I said Ross should fire Ireland after the draft, but now that I think of it, that may set us back even further if doesn't draft "Philbin" type players. I believe that Ross should cut ties now.

I'm not defending Ireland's moves; just giving my opinion on what their motives may be.

This team has been mediocre at best for far too long, and it's about time that someone who knows what they're doing fixes it. If that means replacing most of the roster over a few years, then so be it. I'm hoping that Philbin has a clue, and if he feels that Ireland is holding him back then he should tell that to Ross. We'll have a better idea of what's going on after the Draft. It would be nice if they would inform the fans that "Hey, we stink, so it's in our best interest to spend a year or two gathering players who fit our new scheme so we might once again become a playoff team". I believe that they know the fans are too impatient (can you blame them?) and want to win right now, so they decided to just keep quiet.

I'm tired of "rebuilding". Hell, we need to start winning! Rejuvenate this once proud franchise back to its glory days!

Rebuilding is media jargon for "your team sucks but we need to be political about it on air".

Political correctness = rebuild
Everyone gets an award = rebuild
There is talent in areas of the roster = rebuild
All they need are some pieces = rebuild

rebuild equals an out which equals no accountability.

Until Miami as an organization holds people accountable again we will always be rebuilding.
