Ikeme Hillard is overated, Boston is a overmuscle bound injury waiting to happen, and current fins recievers are fine. It's all about how fast everyone catches on to Linihans new system. When moss was hurt last year the Vikings were still a above average offense and I would pick Chambers over Burlson, Booker over M.Robinson, and McMicheal over Wiggins. With our available cap space I would rather see us wait and pickup a salary cap casualty o-lineman. OUR Recievers are good enough.

We don't really have a solid #3 though. Bringing in Hakim or Boston would strengthen the competition for the #3 spot.

news flash .......they had CULPEPPER!! We have Feeley/Ferotte. Either of them can use all of the help that they can get.

BTW - What happens if chambers or booker goes down with an injury (knock on wood). WR corp doesn't look so good then does it??

We have no depth behind two solid starters.

Yeah, if your getting either of them for the vet. minimum(w/ incentives). which is probably what they'll cost, I'll take either just for competition.

Good points, but I still feel we need one more solid WR and if healthy and cheap I feel David Boston would be a great addition. The only problem with the things you mentioned... Daunte Culpepper was the one throwing to Nate Burleson, Marcus Robinson, and Jermaine Wiggins, and either A.J. Feeley or Gus Frerotte will be throwing to Chris Chambers, Marty Booker, and Randy McMichael. :(

Boston and Hakim would be an upgrade over Thompson IMO. I would only take Boston if he promise he will change his attitude and bring in a first class one.

It was Moss that made the Offense look good. Not culpepper.

We do need another Wr though. If not Boston than someone else.

the guy was talking about the games in which MOSS DIDN'T PLAY.....but it was still Moss that made the offense look good in those games????

But regardless of that, Culpepper was the best player on the Vikings last year, not Moss. Culpepper was the second best QB in the league, and any other year would have been league MVP.

Culpepper in 2004:
YEAR TEAM G GS CMP ATT PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT RAT
2004 MIN 16 16 379 548 69.2 4717 8.6 39 82 11 110.9

Moss in 2004:
YEAR TEAM G GS REC YDS AVG LNG TD FD FUM LOST
2004 MIN 13 13 49 767 15.7 82 13 43 1 1

Culpeppers stats from the 5 games which Moss was hurt and either didn't play or didn't register a catch:

COMP ATT PCT YARDS TD INT RATING
113 166 68.1% 1179 9 3 98.9

but yeah....i have no business contrasting Culpepper to Feeley or Frerotte

Based off last year wouldnt u have to worry about our oline vs Minny's oline before even getting to the QBs?

excellent point......but I still think that there's a larger gap in talent between their QB and ours than between their O-Line and ours.

Why not give Gilmore a shot? I think if he is given more time, and more reps with the quarterback, he will improve!

him, bellamy, newson, all these guys have good upside IMO, though would be a risk bet on them without a B plan..I would bring in Boston, and let these guys fight for the #4 and #5 WR spots

We need some speed & quickness, which is why I wouldn't mind adding Az Hakim. Outside of Chambers, we don't have a single receiver capable of hitting the home run, and that doesn't work for Linehan's type of offense. I'd be willing to bet money that next year we'll be on the market looking for a receiver(although we may add a 1-year fix this year).....
