They probably wont be able to catch the Yanks in the divison with some players coming back soon but do you think they can catch Chicago or Minnesota? Both of those pitching staffs are much better than Bostons.
 
Last I checked they were only one game behind the Yanks
 
If this was the final week of the Season I might agree but there are plenty of games left to play.
 
When did a 1 game lead become so hard to make up? Sox will gain ground when the Yankees come to Anaheim at the end of the month if nothing else :)
 
:shakeno: Wow man, you have an interesting view on sports. First, Auburn is underrated at #6 in the nation, and now the Red Sox , a game and a half back, can't catch the Yanks even with a 5 game series next week.

I would say that Minnesota's staff isn't much better than Bostons especially without Liriano. During a Chisox/Yanks game last week the play by play man for the Yanks seemed so out of touch it was ridiculous. He commented on how the Red Sox should be rooting for the Yankees to beat Chicago and hinted that the Yankees seemingly had already won the division. It's August 14th the only team that I think we can put in the postseason is the Mets at this point. A week ago I would've said Detroit also but Chicago gained 4 1/2 games and now get the Royals while Detroit gets Boston.

The season is far from over man.. It's gonna be an exciting stretch. So many teams, so little playoff seeds.
 
They've picked up 2 games on the Yankees over the last 3 days... the AL East race is FAR from over.
 
Probably. The only good starying pitcher they've got is Schilling (let's face it, if it wasn't for the run support, Beckett would be under.500 right now. and is ERA over 5, is proof).

When your rotation sucks, and your BP sucks (which outside of Papelbon, it has) you're going to have a tough time making the playoffs.
