Has anybody else noticed that the refs seem to be stinking even more than usual this year? Obviously it is easy for us to make the calls sitting at home when we can see everything all at once and from all different angles but these guys are trained professionals and should be doing a better job imo.

What especially ticked me off about yesterdays game was that Ronnie fumble which would have just about sealed it. Looking at the replay I thought it was quite obvious that the ball was half over the goal line but I wasn't surprised when the call went the way of the Chargers.

Thoughts?

I also thought it was an obvious TD but question is

Does the official leave san diego alive if he calls it a TD?

But I do have to admit that none of the replays showed a clear view of when Ronnie's head hit the ground, so you can't reallt tell whn the ball was down. Granted, when his head seems to have hit the ground the ball was on the endzone line.... But I'd hardly call that undisputable (or whatever it's called) evidence.

true but you can clearly see the ball does cross the goaline before he loses it

at that point the ref has to determine whether he was down first or the ball crossed

if not its still miami ball down by contact

if it is than its a TD

no way it should have been ruled a fumble

I said it before and ill say it again, the NFL Refs are biased and fixed. Indisuputable evidence? Are you kidding? Its all right there! Then the guy goes to explain and suddenly he has a mic problem? yeah right. crock of crap.

It looked like Miami was playing New England on that call.

By no means am I a conspiracy theorist but one has to think...

referees are paid by the NFL...

the more money the NFL makes the more money refs make...

the chargers keeping their playoff chances in the probable range will generate more revenue than the 'lowly' dolphins winning a 'meaningless' game...

Idiot referee makes a blatant wrong call because of this?

For the vast majority of calls I think the refs try to do what is right but we've all seen blatant miscalls in the past and this one certainly qualifies. The ball was without question half over the goal line but in the interest of revenue perhaps it's better for the league that the Chargers win that game? It does seem that certain teams get the majority of calls while others rarely have a chance (i.e. Patriots vs Colts past couple years....the Patriots DB's could mug the Colt's WR's without fear of penalty..............Micheal Vick gets touched with a feather and it's roughing the passer, etc.)

mor, have you seen nublar's highlight video yet? after seeing that, i'm reaffirmed that the referee was an ***.

Yes they did. However, I'm not sure it crossed the plane. At worst it should have been 4th down 6 inches from the endzone.
It was clear that the ball came out whe he stretched his arm out and it hit the ground. Furthermore his head hit the ground first, therefore, the ball should have been downed there.

I couldnt really see Ronnie's head, but I did see the ball, It WAS on the ground. You couldnt see the ball over the goal line, but knowing the length of footballs, it was obvious it touched the white line. My problem is not with the refs not calling a TD, but the ball was clearly on the ground during contact. The head doesnt matter. If the ball is touching the ground, and in the Back's hand, and hes being touched, its Down. Dead ball. Place the ball on the one inch line and make it fourth down.

they didnt call offsides on the defense either when they blitzed our quarterback. I watched the replay on tivo and you could clearly see the guy jumped before the ball was snapped.

Sorry I dont recall when the specific play was, just that I was pissed!

or scratch that, never mind being touched, if the ball hits the ground, its dead, no matter what.

I also couldn't believe that call. Even the San Deigo annocers were saying it was a TD. They slowed it down and highlighted the ball. IT was across the line. One of the announcers said What is the point of replay if your going to miss that call. I completely agree. That was just terrible. There was evidence on that play, evidence that the refs suck. We get no calls in our favour, especially game altering ones. Seems like they always go against us. Maybe it just feels that way cause of the tough two years we've had.:) Though this year is getting better fast.

Normally i wont question bogus ref calls. Thats just part of the game.... it happens all the time and will always happen. My problem is, like Tasker said during the game, I can't understand how multiple people can look at the same evidence, and come up with different conclusions.

The original ref call i dont have a problem with.... its a tough job to have. But when you see the replay, Ronnies hand HOLDING the ball, and the ball on the ground, i don't see how they can not change it. Sometimes i think the refs just don't want to overturn their calls.
