Relax

Its only preseason

These games mean nothing

Work in progress

blah blah blah...

I've heard the same people saying the same thing for the last 3 years and I get pizzed each and every time they say this carp...

If both the 1st string offense and defense can get dominated just like they did in the first half of the first quarter.. yeah.. we got problems!!!

Lack of game planning, taking risks, liberal play calling, substitutions of personnel, mental mistakes and even poor clock management is expected and can be written off as all part of preseason and yes, the final score means zero.. zip.. nada..

BUT...

Running, catching, blocking, throwing, tackling and all that physical stuff needed to execute the play and failing to do so, well that means everything!!!! at least is should..

For all those members that say "relax, its all meaningless" well I have a question for you all... If the team cant execute the most simplest of plays in these practice, meaningless preseason games that no one really cares about... then how in the he!! do you expect them to execute in a real game???

Will they magically, automatically remember how to run, catch, block, throw and tackle because the calender says September and these games now mean something?? I dont think so..

So can someone please explain to me how dropping the ball thats thrown to you is not something to worry about? or how getting dominated by the man on the other side of the line of scrimmage is ok in practice but wont happen no more come week 1??

Yeah, I might be Chicken Little and I might be yelling "the sky is falling" but thats because I've seen the sky fall in the preseason games last year.. and the year before that.. and the year before that..

John Madden is 100% correct.. Chicago will be a better (improved) team this year and we are 2-3 seasons away from being competitive.. (hopefully)

Its also the first game of the preseason. Im sure the Bears fans are saying some of the same things we are. Its not as if it were a blow out and we gave this game away. Our guys fought hard. Yea, things can be improved. Isnt that what the preseason is for?

The only reason why I would say posts like this are overreacting is that if you didn't know how many games we have in total (FIVE) there is PLENTY of room for adjustment.

You don't just come out of camp and be a grade A player from the start if you did good previous seasons or not, it actually takes a little bit of adjusting, getting back in the groove I guess you could say.

How many sacks did you see Taylor get? How many 3-4 alignments did you see? How long did the first string players play compared to the 2nd and 3rd which will rarely see the light of a starting job? No one brings their full gameplan to a preseason game, espically this early in the preseason.

Oh, and if you didn't realize yet, there will only be 53 players when its all said and done, and the majority of those players out there WON'T and I repeat WON'T be signed, so don't worry so damn much, the starters and a select few second stringers will be all we need to worry about, and that wont happen untill the FIRST GAME, then we can make true evaluations...

Each time I hear stuff like this, I get "pizzed" as you would say. Listen, this game featured a rebuilt offensive line and a new defensive scheme among other things. Not only that, this game is REALLY EARLY. The Dolphins have all of the rest of camp to brush up on their playbook and things. How many times do I have to dig up the statistic that our undefeated dolphins lost 2 games in the preseason (2-2)? You have starters playing 1 series, 2-3 at most. How many times have we seen an offense take awhile to start clicking in the regular season? (yes, even Dan Marino's offense took awhile, since we are coming off the heels of his induction...it happens to the best of offenses) And even if the first team was lights-out in this game tonight, that doesnt translate to success on the field. We will honestly have a better idea about the team when the final pre-season game is played, and when starters go at least a half. In the meantime, you can't take too much out of this football game.

What I saw tonight.. in everything from one on one blocking to defending the pass to rushing the QB.. Chicago got the better on both sides of the ball.. and they're coming just coming out of camp like we are..

No one asked for Saban to game plan and no one asked to open the play book for this game.. my whole point is the team played "vanilla" and couldnt execute.. that tells me we got a problem when the team can not execute the simplest of plays..

We all know most of the players that will be cut played in the 3rd and 4th quarters.. my post was pretty much limited to the first half of the first quarter.. and... once again.. I've seen preseason and I've seen FIRST GAMES over the last 30 + years... Since the creation of Finheaven.com, I've seen posters say over and over "its preseason, it means nothing" and "relax"... and based on the last 3 years worth of preseason and tonights game.. I think we got things to worry about!!!!!

You would have been better off posting at the beginning. "I really know nothing about what I'm wanting to post about, but here goes" :shakeno:

You've got to be on drugs..

You wouldve been a lot better off keeping that comment to yourself (edit)...he has a right to his opinion. You can disagree without demeaning him.

Terry Terry Terry... this has nothing to do with winning or losing the game this evening... It has everything to do with being able to execute the simplest of football plays...

I'd be happy with a somewhat contained pocket and not the collapsing pocket that we have witnessed for the last three years..

There was mental errors tonight and physical errors.. its the physical errors that makes me concerned with the lack of improvement from one year to the next..

You got plenty of yellow flags in that back pocket there Terry? ;)

Guess so, being the late-night TOS police :)

Turns out that I'm not working tonight which really sucks, because I couldve had my yellow flags and my beer earlier tonight.

Are we suppose to be concerned that Saban has not turned Miami into SB contenders by the first preseason game?

Maybe they can't. Maybe they are just getting up to speed with the offense.

Preseason is about getting ready for the regular season, not about looking good.

Miami did not have the No. 2 pick of the draft because they had only a few problems.
