I am probably not calling any of those players any time soon. I'd be interested to know what Zeitler still has to offer but I also like the direction of overall youth on the OL, I am looking for a Center obviously.

Sanders, maybe after the draft, I'd talk to?

I wouldnt mind bringing Sanders in. He is a solid WR that wont command 14-16M a year and cripple us cap wise.

For the most part, THIS list is my shopping list.

These guys are street free agents and do not factor into the compensation formula when handing out comp picks.
Aside from other teams acquiring picks it doesn't really affect us as we aren't set to lose any significant FA's execpt for possibly Fitz/Godcheaux/Karras

I agree but who are we losing that we would even get a comp pick for?

...and those players could add up to some compensation picks if they sign for any amount of money.

Good point. But not a real exciting group.

Like what a 5th? Personally i'm more concerned with filling the holes than losing a late round pick.

Sorry Mr. Linsley we cannot offer you a deal as trying to acquire a future 5th round pick is more important than protecting our QB or opening holes in the run game.

This is EXACTLY how the Patriots have exploited the compensation pick system. I always laugh (loudly) when some poster alleges NFL bias for the Patriots when the Patriots clean up here.

It isn't bias... or conspiracy theory... it is the fact that the Patriots understand the comp pick system and use it wisely. This is something that I expect us to do more and more as the years go on. Yes, this year we don't have a lot going out... but each year, we'll have more IF we can resist the temptation to buy over-priced free agents. They aren't free.

Yet, the Patriots have signed some high profile FA's over the years in order to improve their team. We all like draft picks but you acquire good players any way you can.

They sign the occasional FA. What they don't do... is sign many of them, especially the non-street FAs.

They've set out to have 9-10 picks in every draft, and this is one of the ways they've done it.

Remember Grier was quoted as saying that he wants to have 10 picks every year.

This is coming.
