He micro managed everything they did in the locker room to now allowing the guys to play cards and what they could have in their lockers. The players couldn't stand him and didn't want to play for him, I wonder if we are going to see the same situation now that the spotlight is on Joe about how he runs the locker room. I feel this is going to turn into a situation where the Locker room is no longer going to be a sanctuary for the players and its going to be constantly monitored by coaches which will create resentment from the players.

It's more about the players being leaders than the coaches enforcing rules. The HC doesn't need to be a dictator if you have veteran guys that are trying to keep the team together. The Eagles traded for DeMeco Ryans, partially because he's a team-leader. Between him, Jason Avant and even Vick, they did a pretty good job of keeping everyone together.

It sounds like your GM just went off hiring mercenaries and didn't really care about their leadership qualities. You're always going to have some bad apples (DeSean Jackson isn't really a team-first guy), but it's up to the veteran players to call people out on it and stand up for their teammates. Now, the situation with the assistant coach condoning it in is just ridiculous. The Eagles had a similar situation with Jim Washburn, their DL coach, where he played favorites with Jason Babin and busted Juan Castillo's (DC) balls, even though he was an assistant. Apparently he'd call the DC "Juanita." Needless to say, Andy Reid ****-canned him halfway through the season, but it was those 2011 "Dream Team" signings and hires that really sunk the team and prompted the rebuild.

It starts with a HC who knows how to run a football program and hire good coaches. Then you have to decide what players are actually helping your team, or just taking a paycheck.

Sparano banned players from playing domino's in the locker room.

Philbin is Cam with a better roster.

1-15 vs 15-17..

Kinda see more wins overall. way better coach than Cam "the offensive guru" cameron. At least these teams have been competitive week in and week out. whether it resulted in losses or not, its been more fun to watch this team play than the one in 07

I have no clue how it's going to go. But to assume that if Philbin has a tigher leash on the locker room that it's going to result in another 1-15 sort of season isn't fair to anyone. I mean call the 2013 locker room whatever you want, guys were free to make their own choices and look where it ended up?

But micro-managing isn't the answer either. Speaking as someone who has managed employees for more than half of my years of work experience, micro-managing is not a productive approach to get the most out of people, you actually get an adverse effect. I agree he needs to have a better pulse on what's going on in his locker room, but he's definitely not the only coach that stays out of the "players sanctuary" (i.e. locker room). Channging Crowder mentioned on WQAM that Saban made a point of telling his coaches and staff to stay away from the locker room as it was the players "space". He also mentioned that he can never remember a single time that Saban ever coming down there. I think the biggest issue with this situation came from a lack of leadership in the OL group, a perfect storm of a mental health strickened weakling, mixed with another mental health strickened brute [PERIOD].

The team isn't going to go into a tailspin just because we don't allow guys to talk about someone's sister's wolf pu*** anymore. Stop worrying, we'll still be mediocre.

What about Cam Wake's locker room rules?
1)Shut up! and dress out for practice
2)shut up! shower and go home.

Much more simpler.
