Remember Adrain McPherson? Lots of people were really high on him before the draft (I was fairly high on him, but wanted Frye from Akron). Anyway, I realize this is Saints news, but it looks like he's off to a rough start. He's not exactly a rookie either. I think he'll improve, it remains to be seen whether he can someday displace mediocre Aaron Brooks. If he were here, he'd probably also be competing with Sage for the #3 spot, not for the starting job.

BTW, I didn't link it because it's on a paying website.

New Orleans Saints

QB: Aaron Brooks had a less than stellar practice last Tuesday under throwing a pass that was intercepted by Jason Craft. He did hook up with Devery Henderson on a 15-yard TD in the back of the endzone in 7-on-7 drills though. Todd Bouman fumbled two snaps. Adrian McPherson and Kliff Kingsbury are competing for the 3rd string job and so far it’s been rather uneventful. McPherson said, “I think I'm doing OK, but I'm definitely not where I want to be.†That’s an understatement after his first few days. He threw interception after interception in 7-on-7 drills.

Your right he his already 22 years old, and never even played a preseason game yet. Time to write him off.

Well he till has alot to prove. But he does have time to do so. I'll very disappointed if he can not beat out an over-rated Brooks. I had alot of hype in this guy and still think he has alot of potential.

Aaron Brooks is gonna start the season at QB for the Saints unless he is hurt.

I meant within a certain time span, 2-3 years. Not his rookie year...

I always thought that McPherson was all hype. He put up big numbers in a league in which EVERYONE puts up big numbers. That, along with the character issues makes me glad we didnt get him.

He put up what some think are big numbers in the AFL, but in reality, his numbers were average compared to other quarterbacks in that league.

McPherson simply doesn't have quarterback instincts. He's a runner that can throw the ball. I stressed and stressed his deplorable accuracy at FSU before the draft. The guy didn't even complete 50% of his passes at the college level.

McPherson was definitely all hype. He won't make it in the NFL as a quarterback.

I know this isn't related to the topic but....Thanks so much for this McPherson update. I never would have found this info on my own. My husband is still talking about how we passed on this guy. Maybe this will help him to trust Saban's judgement a little more.

Sounds familiar? Mr. Michael Vick? Mike Vick can not throw the ball accurately, sure he can bomb it, but not accurately. He makes poor decisions, and has bad vision. What makes him so special, he's a runner that can throw the ball. If you put McPhearson in the right offense he will dominate, until the playoffs when a team shuts down his offense.

There was an article after the draft saying we were going to take McPherson in the 5th but the Saints took him before us.

Hes a far better Bball PG then NFL QB. Alot of the high school scouts mentioned AD as Burger Boy if he had stuck to roundball.

I know he was still available at one of our later picks because my husband and brother were freaking out when Saban didn't pick him.

Yeah he was available with our 4th pick. He was drafted in the 5th to the Saints. The Chiefs had our 5th round pick that came before the Saints because we swapped with them in the Surtain trade. We had the 162nd pick and the Saints had the 152nd.
