I'm not in any way saying this cost the Dolphins the game or anything like that, just trying to see other people's thoughts on this call. In the 2nd quarter, Yeremiah Bell came on a blitz and grabbed Losman. As he was spinning him down, another defender, Carter I believe, was approaching and the ball pops loose. About a second after the ball hits the ground, the referee starts waving his hands in the air and blowing the whistle. He said the his forward progress was stopped and was protecting him from being hit by Carter. That was complete BS. In the replay, it was clear that Losman fumbled, then the ref came in and blew the play dead, AFTER THE FUMBLE OCCURED. That play could have brought some momentum and a score, who knows.

i saw it, saban saw it and threw his red flag out there, yes it definately could have been a big play, but it wasn't. the ball did not bounce our way today, not once.

If you reversed the situation and our QB was getting popped you would have agreed with the call. NFL rules are currently designed to protect QB's, although these "judgmental" calls really bother me in general.

Are you guys gonna use the refs as an excuse every time you guys get outplayed? Just give it up you guys lost because we were the better team today.:shakeno: Nothing worse than grown men crying

I here ya. Its actually similar to the situation last week with Whitner. I don't think it would've mattered though, a buffalo lineman was right there, and unless he completely wiffed on the recovery, its buffalo ball still.

I think that if SEVERAL players were on the qb it would be different. He was not going down willingly, and could have effectively gotten away from the defender. The whistle should have NEVER been blown that early

No one went after the fumble cause the play was dead . So who is to say Buffalo wouldnt have recovered it? Not a big play. We got our butts kicked. End of story.

And who's to say Buffalo would have recovered? I'm just saying, it could have been a big play. We got outplayed, that's not the point. Just seeing what people thought of the call.

It was a bad call - he fumbled. However, no Miami player actually went after it, and I don't think anyone "recovered" it.

It was a bad call. QB still could have gotten away, he was fighting and the ball was knocked out. Horrible call. This protecting the QB crap is getting out of hand.

Truth is our Def blew it on that play. Had any one of them picked up the ball and started running it coulda been challenged, but they didnt.
