This morning I was listening to ESPN 1460 here in Jax.Dan Hicken a t.v. and radio sports guy, said according to people in the Jags front office they were willing and ready to meet the asking price for Arrington. But Arrington failed his physical so the Jags backed off. And the reason he failed his physical was because of his knees. He said the Jags really like Arrington and the meetings went well and they felt like he could bring another element to there defence. He said what Arrington and his agent are asking for all the guaranteed money up front, thats 10-12 million. They feel that is to much money up front for a player who may be damaged goods. He also said thats there still a chance they could sign him if the asking price were to drop. He didn't say how much the money needed to drop. I think if the price drops alot of teams could sign him besides the Jags. Maybe thats one of the reasons why the Giants backed off and the Fins are taking there time also.

THANKS

Arrington failing a physical? Sounds like bull**** to me...

How could a guy who played last season as recently as the playoffs in peak condition fail a physical.

Did we ever give a physical to Arrington? I never recall going through the process.

I don't know about him failing his physical but last thing I heard is Jacksonville just didn't want to pay him what he wanted, but not because of a failed physical. Miami has balked because of the money demands as well, we'll see in the coming weeks.

I think thats Jacksonville trying to please the fans with a reason they didnt sign him

He looked perfectly fine in the playoffs I doubt he failed a physical

I still feel that we are better off trading down in the draft and picking up OLB-Chad Greenway.

Maybe if he wasn't a weakling.

If Greenway is a weakling then Taylor is a pansy according to your logic. You do realize Greenway has good football strength and also has long arms that don't help the benchpress?

That's news to me....

The last thing I heard was the Jags never even made him an offer. On top of that, they were "miles apart" in terms of the contract negociations....

This news about his failing a physical is BS. I think it's just some Jag fan venting his frustration over Arrington leaving town without a contract...

PHINZ RULE!!

Lol, no. The guy can't shred blocks at all. Taylor can certainly do that. I wasn't basing it on his bench reps at the combine alone.

Failing a physical is possible even if you've played the season. Teams kind of set their own standards as far as what a physical needs to show or not show in order to pass or fail.

Brees failed his physical with Miami, passed his physical with the Saints. That just means we have higher standards than they do. If the Jags have even higher standards than us, they may fail him where we pass him.

And this could also be a method to get Arrington to come down on his price. They're like we WANT to give you the money you ask for but your knees...you failed the physical...we just can't do it...maybe if you come down a little bit. In that situation I think he chooses Miami because Saban's been shooting straight with him the whole time, they've had an offer on the table and they've shown him that they want him here in Miami and that this system is designed for him to succeed. They haven't played any games with him.

It sounds like a smoke screen to me.:cooldude:
