ccording to a report from Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, the way things turned out left players on the defensive side of the ball “beyond furious” and “irate” with the defensive scheme cooked up by defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle. Among their complaints was the team’s decision to use players like Cameron Wake and Jason Trusnik to cover running back Joe McKnight, who scored twice on passing plays in the second half to help the Chiefs break the game open.

maybe the should have been furious with their tackling...
The defense wasn't a huge problem IMO. They had what seemed like countless stops and the offense would give it right back..

If they just made the tackles that were in front of them they would have kept some points off the board.....stop complaining until you do your job well......let the fans complain about that.....

the defense wasn't the problem....Those guys spent so much time on the field bailing out the offense, that by the third/fourth quarter they were spent. Our defense played a pretty good game despite their shortcomings.

We need to find an answer for that crossing route on defense.. Sammy Watkins and the Chiefs TE torched us.

You know, when I say things and call players and coaches out on this site many including administrators get offended. They get offended because it is seen as being too negative. But then something strange usually happens, I wind up being right. A good Defensive Coordinator does not take a top ten Defense and turn it into mediocrity in 6 months the way Coyle did when he took over from Mike Nolan. And even if you want to give Coyle the benefit of the doubt the first year, the second year should have been the tell tale sign. There is a VERY GOOD Defensive Coordinator available now that I hope will be on the Dolphins staff next season and his name is Wade Philips.

our defense ranks consistently in the top half of the league in key categories and is 3rd in the nfl with 4.6 yards per play. on the flip side the offense is among the worst, especially in passing offense where it ranks near the very bottom of the league in most categories.

Defense was not an issue. the only break they got was halftime. The could barely get a sip of water before the offense was three and out. The offense barely got past the chief's 50 yard line. This offense is a joke, and tannehill is seriously the worst qb i have seen come through here. I would honestly rather have checkdown chad. On one play tanny had wallace wide open and he threw 25 yards out of bounds. Are you kidding me? he was never first round material, and was a bust after year 2. the only reason he sniffs the field is because him and Philbin are tied together.

trusnick in the sub package is an auto fail...although the secondarys tackling was as bad as it gets for the game so some of them should look in the mirror...really whole team probably should...

Trusnik is a LB, so I can understand that, but I am still scratching my head that OV was trying to cover a TE on a crossing route, and Wake was left covering a RB down the middle. No expert here, but it just seemed like a total mismatch and a dumb way to give up easy points and lose the game.

[cough] BS! [cough]

Our defense may have not been THE issue, but it still was an issue at times because we were sloppy. It sucks getting exposed like we did for easy points. I am mad about it, too!

On a side note: I was wondering who was gonna fall on their sword this week. I'm guessing it's gonna be Coyle.
